Alex O'Loughlin gets 'Hawaii Five-O' badge

CBS is hoping the third time will be the charm for Alex O'Loughlin.The "Moonlight" and "Three Rivers" star will take the lead role in the network's "Hawaii Five-O" remake, which will be his third project at CBS in the past four seasons. He'll take on the role of Detective Steve McGarrett made famous by Jack Lord in the 1968-80 original, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
O'Loughlin had been in talks to headline the remake for a while prior to signing his deal. He joins "Lost's" Daniel Dae Kim, who will play fellow Detective Chin Ho Kelly, in the cast. (Anyone want to take bets on whether those two will have a shirtless surfing scene in the pilot?)
The "Five-O" remake comes from Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Fringe," Star Trek") and Peter Lenkov ("CSI: NY").
O'Loughlin has a passionate and vocal fan base, but thus far the shows he's starred in on CBS haven't lasted longer than a season. "Moonlight" ran for 16 episodes in 2007-08, and "Three Rivers" lasted just eight episodes this fall.
He also stars with Jennifer Lopez in "The Back-up Plan," a CBS Films release that hits theaters April 23.

Alex is such a great actor and so sexy. Hopefully this will be the charm so that he gets the recognition he deserves.
Personally I thought "Moonlight" was much better than "Twilight" and Mick St. John much sexier than Edward Cullen.
I'm thrilled that CBS is not giving up on Alex. He's a great asset and just needs a decent show. I will be watching his new show with my fingers crossed!

Alex already had a decent show it was called MOONLIGHT. if they had renewed that show i'll bet it's ratings would've grown with the vampire craze that was just starting to take off when it was cancelled. way to miss the big wave CBS.
3 Rivers was a terrible show and it wasn't the fault of AOL.
This is reallllly bad casting and an even more horrible idea. I can only see this lasting one season before tanking. Apparently CBS hasn't learned anything, you do not screw with the original.

Alex go to another agent and tv ststion or you will never get a chance, because cbs does not want you to make it. Love you and will follow you wherever you go.
All Alex fans should get together and quit analyzing and re=analyzing what Alex has done in the past...he got a lousy break when CBS admitted they cancelled Moonlight too soon and then threw together 3 Rivers too fast with no real passion or intersting casting. Hawaii Five 0 and Back Up Plan will definitly be hits and "fit" Alex's talents to a "T" Suzanne Alex's Forever Fan
I don't agree with Robbi who posted his comments on feb 12, wq0 as:28pm at all. Three Rivers was a great show but of course CBS was a fool to cancel it so fast. They were more stupider with axing Moonlight. What do you know CBS did the Back Up Plan. They better give Alex a break!!
