TV Ratings: 'Hope for Haiti Now' watched most on ABC
Fast national ratings for Friday, Jan. 22.Friday was an interesting night, ratings-wise, because every channel was broadcasting the exact same thing for two hours. Apparently, ABC was the best place to watch the telethon, except for one half-hour (9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.) when NBC won.
The telethon, coupled with a relatively new "20/20," helped ABC win the night with an average of 5.2 million viewers, 3.4/6 households. ABC and NBC tied for the 18-49 demo with a 1.3 share.

These telethons serve the participants who are pushing their latest projects - I would have more respect if they had just had all of the networks display a black screen with a white number to call to donate. It should be about the victims, not the celebs. Last year, more children died of aids in Africa than all of the victims of Haiti, but because Haiti came all at once, it was the perfect chance for celebs to create the new "it" thing to get their face on tv. It's repulsive.
Dan,
You are an idiot!
americans luv haitions!
Celebrities showing pictures of the aftermath is just as effective at helping the citizens of Haiti, as Women sharing the color of their bra on Facebook was at finding a cure for Breast Cancer.
Noteworthy how the 8pm hour was so evenly divided between ABC, CBS, and NBC. also interesting how ABC and NBC bumped up in the second hour (of the telethon) of ratings while CBS lost viewership. It is possible to derive some interesting theories from from these numbers.
Dan, if they had just put a black screen with a number, i guarantee you that a lot less ppl would've watched and hence less donations. (i have no stake in it either way, just an observation on my part.)
Where are the ratings for MyNetwork? I applaud them for having the stones to keep playing their normal programming instead of giving in to the peer pressure to take all interesting TV off for the night so that every single channel could air the same boring telethon.
Want to donate to a good cause, great, just don't do it with boring old tired telethons
