'The Bachelor': Ed and Jillian's 'special announcement' was a wedding date

That "special announcement" nixed from "The Bachelor" premiere? It was Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski setting a wedding date. Not, as one commenter guessed, that they were getting a dog.ABC confirmed to Zap2it that Ed and Jillian decided not to air their wedding date announcement on Monday's premiere of "The Bachelor."
"The announcement was supposed to be about their wedding date. The couple filmed their premiere visit in October and thought revealing the information would infringe on their personal life once they thought about it," an ABC rep tells us. "They along with the producers decided not to air the announcement."
While we certainly respect Ed and Jillian's right to privacy, as fans of the couple we are disappointed we didn't get to see the big announcement Monday night. Hopefully sometime soon they'll decide to go public with their wedding date -- if they get down the aisle, that makes them just the second actual "Bachelor" marriage (along with Trista and Ryan). Charlie and Sarah and Jason and Molly are reportedly engaged.
