'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' cast revealed at People's Choice Awards
UPDATE: Host Jeff Probst assesses the cast in a video below.CBS scooped itself with the revelation of the "Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains" cast at the People's Choice Awards Wednesday night (Jan. 6).
The official-official announcement wasn't supposed to happen until Saturday at a 10th-anniversary party for the series, but anyone with a DVR and a reasonably good knowledge of "Survivor" history could see all 20 participants in a preview shown at the awards. The cast pretty well matches what spoiler sites have been saying for a while now -- and our own speculation based on the trailer shown during the "Survivor: Samoa" reunion appears to have uncovered a few red herrings.
The most notable absence is probably Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton, who's one of the all-time "Survivor" bad guys but may have worn out his welcome with the show.
Here's the full list:
HEROES
- Rupert Boneham, "Survivor: Pearl Islands" and "All-Stars"
- James Clement, "China" and "Fans vs. Favorites"
- Colby Donaldson, "Australian Outback" and "All-Stars"
- Cirie Fields, "Panama" and "Fans vs. Favorites"
- Amanda Kimmel, "China" and "Fans vs. Favorites"
- Jessica "Sugar" Kiper, "Gabon"
- Stephenie LaGrossa, "Palau" and "Guatemala"
- James "JT" Thomas, "Tocantins"
- Tom Westman, "Palau"
- Candice Woodcock, "Cook Islands"
VILLAINS
- Tyson Apostol, "Tocantins"
- Randy Bailey, "Gabon"
- Sandra Diaz-Twine, "Pearl Islands"
- Danielle DiLorenzo, "Panama"
- Russell Hantz, "Samoa"
- Jerri Manthey, "Australian Outback" and "All-Stars"
- Rob Mariano, "Marqeusas" and "All-Stars"

Well, looks like I'll be continuing my boycott of Survivor as long as Russell is there. Still can't figure out why everyone wanted a multi-millionaire to win another million dollars, whether you thought he spiced up the show or not.
Well it should be interesting this year I would love that arrogant jerkoff Russel "I'm the best player ever" be the first one out. He was so chocked when he lost in Samoa, he was so sure he was going to win. I have to watch just to see him get voted out.
Just wish Boston Rob wasn't there--had enought of him the 2nd time he was on Survivor, which was before his stint on Amazing Race. Hope he gets booted off quickly.
A few too many others who have been on more than once, too.
I agree Rob needs to go and fast - his grade 2 education has given him his 15 minutes of fame - now get out of here
Russell's the best, get over it. It's about how you play the game, and he played it like no other.
Russel proved many that this survior show is all rigged and the whole cast know who will win before it even starts.
Third time's gotta be the charm for Cirie. But think Tom has a good chance of being a two time winner.
Sorry people, but Boston Rob still has the charm to manipulate even the manipulators. He may not winn but will make the show not boring. Want to see him and Parvati together.
Keeping in mind that this was taped in September, none of these people knew who Russell was so i'm betting he was NOT voted out first due to the fact that no one knew who he was. He did a back to back turnaround 2 weeks after Survivor 19 finished, both in Samoa by the way.
NICE TRY Zap2it... but how can you list who is a "hero" and who is a "villain" just by watching the preview tonight? Well it's a safe guess for 90% of them so I'll give you that... but isn't there some debate as to whether Russell is actually a true villain or not? And I for one don't look at "Boston" Rob as a bad guy, just a sneaky player. I guess the lines are blurred for some of them. Only a few are clearly a "villain".
As for the people ripping on Russell, what's the big deal about how he plays the game? I think we need not worry, kids are smart enough to know they shouldn't cheat when playing a game... so he's not going to corrupt anyone. And exactly how did he "cheat" anyway? I didn't see him get called out on breaking rules like that one guy did in one of the challenges. Is he cocky? Yes, I'll give you that. But I think he deserves to be... how many others have found THREE hidden immunity idols with little or NO clues?
In this new "Survivor" I'll be cheering for Rupert and Russell. Either one winning would make me very happy.
