Rosie O'Donnell on Oprah: 'The View' set me up
In the last six years, Rosie O'Donnell went from being America's Sweetheart to the outspoken Queen of Mean. Today (Mon. Jan. 25) on "The Oprah Show," O'Donnell lets it rip about the multiple incidents that led to her leaving "The View," the complicated breakup with her partner of 12 years and her new soon-to-be live-in girlfriend.
Most of us believed that O'Donnell's on-air argument over the Iraq war with "View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck led to her walking off the show. O'Donnell says there's more to it.
"I didn't come back because the director and the producer did a split screen, and they had to prepare that in advance," she says. "I knew that because I was the producer of my own television show. I felt there was a little bit of a setup involved in egging me into that position."
In 2008, Barbara Walters appeared on Oprah and described a huge argument she had with O'Donnell over critical comments she had made about Donald Trump, one of Walters' friends. The former comedienne says she regrets that fight.
"What's really, really regretful for me is that I think I scared her," she says. "Because, you know, I'm 200 pounds. When I stand up, and I go right in your face and say: 'What is wrong with you? Do you not have a human heart?' It's crazy."
We're scared just reading that, so we can imagine how Barbara felt!
After walking off "The View" in 2007, she continued her advocacy of gay adoption, but made headlines again when she split from former Nickelodeon exec Kelli Carpenter, her partner of twelve years, last October.

I watched Oprah which I don't normally do and I thought Rose, who normally gags me, had improved a lot,
I agree with her - I DO think it was a setup on the View. I was watching that day and it was a bloodbath.
Rosie seems to have changed and I hope so for her sake. She has a lot of talent and does a lot of good work and I'd like to see her redeem herself with the public.
And I'm no big fan of hers; I was just surprised at how much sense she made yesterday.

why didn't oprah ask rosie about her comments that she beleives gayle and oprah are a lesbian couple. now that would have been the showstopper.
