Regis Philbin doesn't know 'Pants on the Ground,' does know 'Idol' Alan Lambert

Regis Philbin revealed on Tuesday on "Live with Regis and Kelly" that he is not aware of "Pants on the Ground" -- but he is aware of Alan Lambert.Oh Reege. We know that you go to bed way before "American Idol" airs but c'mon... "Pants on the Ground" was off-the-charts crazy last week!
It got so big that "The View" invited General Larry Platt to appear on their show and perform his song.
Luckily, Kelly Ripa watches "American Idol" (or has heard of "the internet") and was able to perform a snippet of the song for Regis and guest Randy Jackson.
Regis then went on to ask Randy about the "Alan Lambert" controversy. Sigh.
Is it time for Regis to hang up his "Live" spurs? We think so. Bring in somebody young and witty as a counterpart for Kelly Ripa (who is delightfully hilarious on "Live"), instead of making us feel like she's got a Monday through Friday elderly caretaker job.

i have loved ... and watched, regis since he was in san diego. i can't imagine live without him. have not seen a guest host that could sustain the show because you need someone who can bridge the gap with the young and 'we remember when' generation also. that's what's so precious about live. having said that, regis has become the 'joan rivers' of daytime talk and it saddens me. i'm hoping he leaves on his own terms but realizes it needs to start winding down, maybe 2 times a week.
I think Regis needs to hang up his hat. Anderson Cooper would be a great co-host. Kelly and Anderson have great chemistry together!
Most people don't know what "Pants on the Ground" is. Unfortunately, we DO know who Adam is because the media thinks people actually want to see him, but most people don't like him and can't care less about him.
But...Regis is in the entertainment business and should be up on the "IT" things like Adam and "Pants on the Ground" guy. This is an entertainment talk show he appears on.

Regis is definitely losing touch with reality. It's sad cause I have the utmost respect for him and I've loved watching him since I was a kid, but he needs to retire. He doesn't seem to know what's going on or even what he's talking about anymore. He needs to retire and seek some medical help cause he's showing signs that seem to point to Dementia/Alzheimer's
You are insane, all of you. Regis is the best! He should not retire. He is amazing. All of these posts make me so sick. You have no respect for your elders. Regis is brilliant. It's funny when he messes up names, that's just who he is and I love him for it! He isn't going to retire any time soon. Don't insult him, it's rude.
My mother's friend said that the doctor's refused to perform a hip replacement on her mother in-law because she was showing signs of Dementia because the surgery can make it worse. It all seems to fit with what's happening with Regis.
I think Regis is slipping mentally. He has made several inappropriate comments and has seemed a bit confused lately. I think he needs neuropsych testing. It is sad to see someone on that downward slope.
