Meet Marcela Valladolid, the Food Network's newest chef on 'Mexican Made Easy'
Meet the newest chef to helm a show for the Food Network -- Marcela Valladolid with "Mexican Made Easy."Her philosophy is "Real Mexican. Real Simple. Real Good." and she bases her kitchen philosophy on her childhood because she actually grew up in Tijuana, Mexico.
Valladolid now lives in San Diego with her 5 year-old son Fausto. She will be featuring many recipes on "Mexican Made Easy" from her 2009 cookbook "Fresh Mexico."
When asked about why she wanted to do her show, she told USA Today:
People in this country just love Mexican food, but there's so much more to it than people know. People associate Mexican food with nachos, burritos, margaritas and really deep-fried foods heavy in starches, and those dishes are beloved in the U.S. We have to be grateful because this is the stuff that opened up the doors for people like me. It's not a coincidence that salsa's like the best-selling condiment in the country. But these days, the ingredients are just so accessible. It used to be that you only had the Hispanic section at the supermarket - now there's an entire aisle. I try to make it really fresh, really accessible, and obviously with ingredients you can find at your local supermarket.
"Mexican Made Easy" debuted on the Food Network Saturday, Jan 23 at 9:30 a.m. ET, 6:30 a.m. PT. The next episode, titled "Game Day Grabs," airs Saturday, Jan. 30.

Dear Marcela,
My Spanish class assignment for Thursday, February 18, 2010, is to make two Spanish dishes, take a picture of them, and bring the the finished products with the recipes to class in Spanish. My question to you is, would you please send me the recipes for Chocoflan and Tres Leches cakes in Spanish? I would appreciate it so very much. I'm going to bake the two cakes today. If possible, please send the recipes to my e-mail. yvonneldl1941@msn.com
Love your recipes,
Jamie

This is GRACIOSO (funny)! The writters up here think they're writting to Food Network's webpage [:8] .
Scripps have to add a token Latino program host 'cause they don't want to be considered RACISTAS (their actions PROVE they are!). How many Latino people work in any of Scripps' networks, considering Latinos represent almost 1/6 of USA population?
Very few (FN's can be counted with the fingers of 1 HAND).
All the nations of HISPANOAMERICA, even LATINOA MERICA (with the Brazilians) have plenty of knowldgable people that can bring the whole variety of cusine their countries are capable of...
Even to the level of ultimately having Scripps build its own Food Network in Spanish (I'd propose the BUEN PROVECHO TV name) like they're already developing a British and a European FN.
Obviously a SINGLE Latin food program in FN is TOO LITTLE and there should be at least 4-5 MORE at the same time, OK?
