Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning are Sundance 'Runaways'
Female rock stars are not so uncommon today -- but in the mid-1970s, a girl with a guitar was seen as at best a curiosity and at worst a freak."The Runaways" will give fans a glimpse into that time. The movie, which opens in March, stars "Twilight: New Moon's" Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, the leaders of the all-girl band that had a brief but memorable run in the '70s. The movie had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, and Stewart and Fanning attended the premiere and talked about the band's struggles.
"I think this movie will kind of open the eyes of people our age that don't really know it was so tough for them once upon a time," Fanning says in the video below. She and Stewart also talk about Jett and healing power of rock 'n' roll. Have a look.
