'House': Readers comment on Lucas and Cuddy
Last week "House" creator David Shore spoke to KTV about Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein)'s current relationship on the show, saying that though House is still their guy, Lucas (Michael Weston) will be sticking around. "[Lucas and Cuddy will stay together] for the forseeable future," Shore shared. "It's not going to be permanent, but yeah, I kinda like Lucas, so we'll see where it goes. I like House too. And I like House more. I'll tell you that much."
The overwhelming viewer response via comments and email was decidedly anti-Lucas and Cuddy (aka Luddy), however we did hear from a few Lucas fans as well, so we thought we'd highlight some of your thoughts...

That's great you like Lucas Davis Shore because no one else does!!!! Glad he is not permanent though - best House news I have heard in a long while. The fact we are stuck with him for he forseeable future though is disturbing, really disturbing. Guess what DS we like House too how about stopping wasting HL screen time on boring sub plots and characters like Lucas! -Belle

Great...Lucas will be there for the foreseeable future. Not permanent does not tell us when he'll leave. Hopefully, he'll be gone by the end of the season. Or else this is one viewer that will stop watching. I really don't understand why DS and KJ likes this Lucas. They seem to be the only ones. -Bored

Though I like the chemistry between House and Cuddy and have always wanted them together, I'm enjoying Lucas right now. Good to see Cuddy with someone new, trying different things. House isn't ready for her yet. Why should she have to wait around and do nothing until he's ready? -Cat21
This last comment is where I'm at as well. It seems as though most people feel that House and Cuddy belong together -- including David Shore and executive producer Katie Jacobs -- but should Cuddy have to sit around and wait while House takes his time realizing it too? Let the lady have a little uncomplicated fun for now. Methinks the cranky doc will eventually come for her and maybe they'll even live happily ever after.

The beginning of the luddy storyline is wrong:
how can a fan believe Cuddy now wants Lucas, when she was totally in love with House last season? And we can't forger that in the beginning of THIS season Cuddy went to House's apartment to talk about their RELATIONSHIP.
So...how can she change her mind just like that?
This is stupid. And real fans usually look for better explanations than "she's trying something different".
A man is not a "new kind of vanilla soap", she can't just "try it" (unless she's a wh**e and Cuddy is NOT).
So...The bases of this storyline are STUPID.
And Lucas is really an irritating character. PLEASE, SEND HIM HOME ASAP!

I highly doubt that, honestly. Some Huddy fangirls are just extraordinary loud. And House and Cuddy clearly do not belong together at all. IMO this shouldn't be about Huddy or not Huddy at all anyway. This show is called House MD for a reason, the reason that made it so successful - it's not a stupid soap opera.
Well, I doubt that Huddy will ever work out anyway, Cuddy wants House to change for her, and House is not so stupid to do that. Can't work. Never. BTW who would seriously want to watch House, Cuddy and little Rachel as family?!?! Want to see that? Go watch 7th heaven, House is not the right kind of show for you. Did you even watch the show back in its really good times?

Easy. Remember the first seasons? Cuddy (who must have been in love with House back then too according to last season's crap) encouraged House to date Cameron, for example. Hmm, I like to call that lack of continuity, but hey, mabye Huddy fangirls have their different clouded pov. TPTB have pushed Hameron for almost 3 seaons and then dropped it like a hot potato. Maybe it's time to drop Huddy now (no, not maybe, it IS time for that, people are sick of it) and Luddy is the start. Can't complain about it, that's for sure, I like Luddy.
Amen to the comments above. House is not a soap opera, Huddy makes one out of the show. STOP RUINING HOUSE MD FOR A CRAPPY INCREDIBLE SHIP!
And sorry but LMAO about the "real fan"-crap. A real fan wouldn't want the soap operaish relationship crap at all.
We are not complaining because Cuddy is getting some action. We are complaining because the relationship doesn ´t make sense and it ´s ruining Cuddy and the Huddy banter. I ´m sure Huddy will be the end game but a lot of people are getting tired. We ´ve been waiting 6 years to see House and Cuddy in a relationship and all we get are stupid roadblocks to delay it.
Lucas is a joke and this whole relationship with Cuddy is completely unbelievable.Why they'd think fans would go for this is beyond me.Cuddy was in love with House then Lucas pops out of nowhere and Cuddy seems to have forgotten about her feelings for House.One thing House fans love is the flirting and the banter between House and Cuddy,now we are not getting that either.Get rid of Lucas and bring back the Huddy we love.
If the Lucas/Cuddy relationship had been prefaced with some sort of explanation, I would have no problem with it. That being said, I do feel like the spark, even banter wise, is gone between House and Cuddy is gone- be that Lucas, the writing, or something else. I am all for a House/Cuddy relationship but not at the sake of good writing and certainly not condoning or showing some sort of farcical nonsense that they have put on the screen half the time.
For me, the problem is not that Cuddy is with Lucas and not with House. The problem is that because of this Luddy crap, the interactions between House and Cuddy have recently been non-existent or painful to watch. And IMO the show is suffering from that.
Luddy should be told they are abusing House by torturing him after getting out the mental hospital. If I was Cuddy I would be head over heals in love with House. I mean isn't that what the Seasons 1-3 were about..damaged House and the woman who could save him..ala Cameron. What happened? I'm pretty sure this show is being watched by men now who like women to be the enemy not the friend. Even Cameron in her last scene had to say House was poisoning Chase and co. She and Cuddy are mentally castrating House, when in the early days they swooned to help him. Well, I for one female am still swooning to save him. I won't be scared off by these hairbrained Lucas antics.
