'Grey's Anatomy': Izzie's awkward return

The doctors of "Grey's Anatomy" will welcome Izzie (Katherine Heigl) back into the fold in Thursday's (Jan. 21) episode.Check that. "Welcome" may not be exactly the right word. As you'll see in the clip below, Alex (Justin Chambers) doesn't exactly throw down the red carpet for his wife. We're guessing that has something to do with the whole "I slept with someone" thing that ABC has been playing in all its promos for the episode.

The show has been better without her. Thats really is not saying much. The last
couple of eps have seemed rushed and not that good.
i had heard thru some internet site that tonights return was taped a while ago and she hasnt really returned yet. she is do back in a few weeks to actually start taping new stuff with the reast of the cast
Yes, I believe this was the return from the "break" she had asked for and before her maternity leave.
I don't begrudge her these leaves actually, but the show really has been more enjoyable without her (and T.R. Knight for that matter). Her time away has just shown the audience that the show doesn't absolutely *need* her.
I, for one, like Kate Heigl. So, I'm glad to see her back on Grey's. But I wonder in what capacity..?? Since she was fired before her hiatus... Will she be reinstated as a physician..?? Am VERY sad aout the break-up between Little Grey and McSteamy. He chose his surprise daughter over her - how asinine is that..?? He doesn't even know that he's indeed the father - did he do a paternity test..?? Imagine anyone just showing up claiming being someone's offspring... Can't agree with Mark Sloan - he makes the dumbest decisions sometimes - and that for a top-notch surgeon...go figure. He'd better wake up and realize that he threw away a precious thing, and get her back. Come on, writers - it's up to YOU to pound some sense into the stupid doctor. Enough stupidity already. Be especially KIND to Little Grey - she deserves better.

The show has most definitely not been better without her. Some of the storylines have been interesting - but they would have been even better with her presence. That said, because of what the creators have done with her character it has not helped. Katherine is a wonderful actress and as much as I enjoy seeing her each week on Grey's - I do hope she will be released from her contract at the end of the season to pursue movies. In general the show is in decline but it wont be a huge rapid descent much like it wasn't for ER. Noone is bigger than the show - even Heigl it's biggest name. But it will be worse for her absence and it is the start of the slippery slope.
hate Izzy.... sorry her character is back
I like Izzy and I miss George. I don't care for the new interns. Combining the 2 hospitals has not been that great. I love Derek and Meredith together, but it doesn't give any major drama for the show. I thought maybe they would put Bailey and the Chief together. Don't like that they are taking away from the Chief. Still love the show and watch it every week.

I'm so sad Alex and Izzie broke up. I love Katherine Heigl on the show and absolutely adore Alex and Izzie as a couple. They make the show for me. Izzie better come back or this show won't be worth watching any longer....
