'Gossip Girl's' Blake Lively joins 'Green Lantern' cast

Blake Lively says XOXO to Ryan Reynolds -- as his love interest in "Green Lantern."According to Variety, Lively has been cast opposite Ryan Reynolds. Production starts in March for the movie. Lively's character Carol Ferris is a pilot and the girlfriend to Hal Jordan (aka the Green Lantern).
In the DC Comics universe, Ferris is also sometimes the adversary of Jordan when the Zamarons crown her Star Sapphire and send her to do battle with the Green Lantern. We hope that aspect of the character is a part of the movie -- it would make Lively's character so much more interesting than just the girlfriend role.
The role of Carol Ferris has only before been animated, voiced by Olivia d'Abo in "Green Lantern: First Flight" and Brooke Shields in "Justice League: The New Frontier."
"Green Lantern" is scheduled for a 2011 release.

This is the worst news ever regarding this movie. BARF. Worse than Ryan being miscast as Hal Jordan. He'd be a much better Kyle Rayner. This movie sounds sillier and sillier now.
