Golden Globes 2010 movies predictions: Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique, Christoph Waltz
Movie critics are wildly split on the Golden Globes motion picture categories -- the only consistency is for Sandra Bullock, Mo'Nique and Christoph Waltz.Zap2it combed Golden Globes movie predictions and compiled them here (for the major categories) in one easy-to-read article. Problem is... nobody can agree on anything.
Best Motion Picture, Drama
(Nominees:"Avatar," "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Precious," "Up in the Air")
Will win: This is shaping up to be two-picture race between "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker." Critics have lauded "The Hurt Locker" but "Avatar" is the box office baby.
Should win: "Inglourious Basterds," "Up in the Air." Poor "Precious." It does get any love.
Best Motion Picture, Comedy
(Nominees: "(500) Days of Summer," "The Hangover," "It's Complicated," "Julie & Julia," "Nine")
Will win: Every movie nominated has gotten picked by at least a few critics. So who knows?
Should win: "The Hangover" and "(500) Days" are the favorites for most deserving.
Best Actor, Drama(Nominees: Jeff Bridges, "Crazy Heart," George Clooney, "Up in the Air," Colin Firth, "A Single Man," Morgan Freeman, "Invictus," Tobey Maguire, "Brothers"
Will win: It's a dead heat between Bridges and Clooney
Should win: Again, dead heat. Those who thought Bridges will win said Clooney should win and vice versa. Morgan Freeman got one vote.
Best Actress, Drama
(Nominees: Emily Blunt, "The Young Victoria," Sandra Bullock, "The Blind Side," Helen Mirren, "The Last Station," Carey Mulligan, "An Education," Gabouray Sidibe, "Precious")
Will and should win: Sandra Bullock, almost across the board. Gabouray Sidibe got one mention for "will win."
Best Actor, Comedy
(Nominees: Matt Damon, "The Informant," Daniel Day-Lewis, "Nine," Robert Downey Jr., "Sherlock Holmes," Joseph Gordon-Levitt, "(500) Days of Summer," Michael Stuhlbarg, "A Serious Man")
Will win: Damon, Day-Lewis and Stuhlbarg are splitting votes on this one.
Should win: Damon, Gordon-Levitt and Downey Jr. are splitting votes for most deserving, so it sounds like nobody has any idea who is going to take home Best Actor in a Comedy.
Best Actress, Comedy(Nominees: Sandra Bullock, "The Proposal," Marion Cotillard, "Nine," Julia Roberts, "Duplicity," Meryl Streep, "It's Complicated" and "Julie & Julia")
Will win: Meryl Streep, "Julie & Julia," across the board
Should win: Meryl Streep, "It's Complicated," almost across the board. Either way, Ms. Streep is taking home her 7th Golden Globe, making her the all-time Globes acting winner, male or female. There was one vote for Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal."
Best Supporting Actor
(Nominees: Matt Damon, "Invictus," Woody Harrelson, "The Messenger," Christopher Plummer, "The Last Station," Stanley Tucci, "The Lovely Bones," Christoph Waltz, "Inglourious Basterds")
Will and should win: Christoph Waltz, unanimously.
Best Supporting Actress
(Nominees: Penelope Cruz, "Nine," Vera Farmiga, "Up in the Air," Anna Kendrick, "Up in the Air," Mo'Nique, "Precious," Julianne Moore, "A Single Man")
Will and should: Mo'Nique, land slide. One critic even said that Mo'Nique's performance is why awards shows exist.
Best Director
(Nominees: Kathryn BIgelow, "The Hurt Locker," James Cameron, "Avatar," Clint Eastwood, "Invictus," Jason Reitman, "Up in the Air," Quentin Tarantino, "Inglourious Basterds")
Will win: Dead-heat between ex-spouses Bigelow and Cameron. We think they should have to leg-wrestle for it on stage at the awards.
Should win: Most critics think Tarantino should take it home, though Bigelow and Cameron got a few votes each for "should."
What do you guys think? Agree or disagree with the critics?
