'Desperate Housewives': Teri Hatcher talks about losing Karl and her upcoming strip scene
In the end, Lynette lost one of her twin babies, Angie lost her blackmailer, and we all lost a character that we've gotten to know intimately over the years: Karl (played by Richard Burgi).
"I still really can't believe it," Teri Hatcher tells ABC News. "We had so many years of great, great funny moments off-camera, on-camera. I'm really going to miss him."
That's a stark contrast to Hatcher's character Susan's response. After hearing about his death and imagining herself fat and unhappy if she had stayed with Karl, Susan said she simply felt grateful. That may have stung for some fans, who had grown attached to the man who took on several roles: philanderer, lover and father.
Hatcher did suggest a way to get Burgi back on the show - as Karl's evil twin!
She also talked about preparing for an upcoming scene in which Susan takes on a new persona and takes off her clothes as a stripper named "Miss Fix-it." In the episode, she finds out Mike has been frequenting strip clubs and decides to prove a point.
What are your feelings about Karl's death? Will you miss him like Hatcher will or are you grateful like Susan was?

I am sad. I liked him.
I'll miss Karl! He was the only reason I watched DH any more. Richard Burgi did a great job of turning a one-dimensional cad into a funny, sexy, unexpectedly endearing character. Marc Cherry was way wrong to kill Karl off.
I will miss him because he was studly, for his age, he was so studly!
Hell yes! Carl was great with Bree...
DH was fun the first season, then it went downhill with a vengence. After season 1, the only reason I ever watched was to see the rib-tickling comedic performances of Richard Burghi, who miraculously managed to make a cad into someone likeable. Boy, I'd far rather have kept the wonderfully charming Karl and got rid of the oh-so-boring Orsen.
Killing off Karl was a huge mistake! He was the one bright spot in a show that has become dreary. The only positive to killing him off is that I no longer have to watch this horror - Karl was my sole reason for tuning in.
I think DH really messed up this time. Killing off the best character on the show isn't going to make it better. Watching Bree get back with Orson mainly because he's now a cripple won't be nearly as much fun as watching her with Karl. I probably won't watch it near as much as I used to, it just won't be as much fun without Karl.
I think the messed up killing off Karl. even if you went back and forth on whether or not to like him he was funny as hell and you started to see him come around to more likeable with him and bree. Plus in the funeral scene its kinds odd that they didnt even put the fact that he had another kid. it just focused on susan andd julie.Im sorry. Julie juse wasnt enotional enough for me for her dad passing.Orson isnt funny unless they are going to have a personality change following the accident.im sad they took this turn.We better get back to the drama and laughs of the first two season quick! this episode was a downer....
The fact that they killed him off in THE LAMEST stunt ever seen on this show (the only funny part was that Homer Simpson was the pilot)was just bs. He got a much, much better and awesome death on the quickly dispatched "Harper's Island". Marc Cherry loves killing off the good actors and keeps around the stiffs like Terry Hatcher and....
And Felicity Huffman is definitly one of the stiffs. She sleep walks through the crappy material she is given year after year. People are praising her for that boring pile of crap that aired Sunday that carried no significance at all except that those f@!#ers killed off "Karl". Here's praying that they finally give Kyle McLaughlin some good material.
I will miss Karl(Richard Burgi). I was so looking forward to see him with Bree.I am very sad to see him go. In my opinion he is the sexiest man alive.
