Peter Sarsgaard is in talks to play supervillain Dr. Hector Hammond in the upcoming Warner Bros. film based on the DC Comics hero, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Hammond gets exposed to a meteorite that increases his brain capacity and gives him psionic powers over others. The original character, created in the early 1960s, loses his physical abilities however and is dependent on controlling others.

Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Hal Jordon who becomes the powerful Green Lantern. "Gossip Girl's" Blake Lively was previously cast as his love interest, Carol Ferris.

Production is scheduled to begin in March in New Orleans.

Other movie casting/news:

 - Kevin Spacey will star in the dark comedy "Inseparable," which will be shot in China this summer. The story centers on an American expatriate (Spacey_ who befriends a young engineer (Daniel Wo) who's been having personal and professional problems.

 - Zach Galifianakis and Paul Rudd, who are co-starring in the upcoming "Dinner for Schmucksk," are reteaming for the comedy "Will." Both films are with Paramount. The high-concept comedy is set in a world where people on Earth live according to what's written by people in Heaven. Rudd plays a guy whose "writer" (Galifianakis) stops writing, and so the guy is unmoored and has unscripted adventures.

 - A relative unknown British actor, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, has landed a role in the revenge drama "Faster" opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Moon Bloodgood will also join the cast.

The film centers on an ex-con (Johnson) who seeks to avenge his brother's death while pursued by the law and criminals. Jackson-Cohen will play a millionaire who kills for sport, while Bloodgood will play the ex-con's girlfriend. Maggie Grace and Billy Bob Thornton have been previously cast. Salma Hayek is in talks to join.

 - Leonardo DiCaprio will narrate the "Hubblew 3D" film that takes viewers on a journey through the cosmos aboard the Hubble space telescope. The actor previously narrated the documentary "The 11th Hour."

 - Not exactly casting, but Variety reports that comedian Chris Rock has optioned the English-language remake rights to France's "La premiere etoile" or "The First Star," which centers on a working-class black family who enter the world of a stuffy ski resort. Rock will adapt the screenplay and produce.

Why do they keep putting "The Rock" (Dwayne J.) in movies? no one i know likes him in movies. yuck.

I like Dwayne Johnson, but I do believe that he deserves better scripts. He has a lot of raw talent and charisma. I guess, if it were me, I would cast him in a more cerebral drama or thriller.
