'Bones': Jonathan Adams' Goodman not back for 100th episode

jonathan-adams-bones-320.jpgWhen the news broke that Eric Millegan (Zack) would be returning for the "Bones" 100th episode flashback, speculation amongst fans turned to whether season one series regular Jonathan Adams (Goodman) would be back as well.

Sadly, the news is not so good.

"[Goodman] is not going to be there," show creator Hart Hanson told Zap2it at a FOX event on Monday. "It's terrible too, because he's one of my favorite actors and we just had to figure out what we could fit in from the past and something had to go."

In fact, Brennan's former boss won't even be mentioned in the episode. "It's like picking at a wound," Hart explained. "For those who remember him, he's a pretty forceful guy. But no, he's not there, it was one of those [difficult] decisions."

Sigh.

We're disappointed.

What do you guys think? Are you cool with Goodman staying MIA?

OK with it? No. What a bummer. Wow. All of these lovely spoilers today and... what a blight! :(

I can understand, the show having to limit who will be on the show, but Goodman noooo. They should've brought Goodman and skipped Sweets.
I'm happy we're going to get Cam, Caroline and Zach.

Never much cared for him actually...Zach is all that matters. lol

I'm really bummed to hear this :(

I miss Goodman, he provided a valuable perspective in Season 1. Besides Zach, he was one of the characters I was really looking to see in the 100th ep.

This is extremely unfortunate, in my opinion. He was the BOSS in S1. At LEAST they could mention him in the episode and give some sort of explanation. I would be okay with that, but that's not even happening. This is going to be a little tough for Bones fans to swallow.

Ok with it. No im unhappy they could of got rid of cam to fit him in as imho they dont/didnt need to show us what cam was doing.

It's not just nostalgia that makes me miss Zack and Goodman, and hate on the interns/Cam. Its that 1.Zack provided depth and character not only by himself, but by bringing it out in the rest of the team by being like their genius little brother while the interns are, though fun, very kitshy and 2.Goodman didn't hover-he came in to lay down the law and occasionally be an archaeologist. Cam hovers, has some ill defined job with flesh she doesn't do much with, and reacts to the people around her with bemusement. We're lacking depth and definition in Bones these days. Look back at the first seasons, that stuff was sooo much more intense.

I'm so glad to see people reacting the same way I am.

Jean - you hit the high points with your notes. I really hate the whole Cam thing...

They just got rid of a solid good father figure (Goodman) in favor for her?

Argh... I still can't believe it to these days.

Season 1 was in my opinion the best. It has everything... from Goodman, to Zack... and let's not forget Cullen as well...

Now what do we have these days? Lacking depth and lack of storyline continuity... just for what?

Just so they can include Cam in the flashback! Argh!

I miss Jonathan Adams and wish they had never fired him in the first place. I was a big fan of Jonathan Adams as the sweet character of Henry on NBC's wonderful series, "American Dreams" - a wonderful actor.

Cam has grown on me, I am now OK with her and even find her occassionally funny. But I much preferred Goodman.

I HATED actor Erik Milligan, he creeps me out. Losing Millegan/Zack for the character of Sweets was a hugely positive change in MY BOOK. I loved the actor who plays Sweets back when he was the kid starring in another great, short lived NBC series, "Freaks & Geeks".

It would've been cool to have Goodman back but hey it sounds like we're getting all the crucial players, Zack and Caroline and they've fitted Cam into the story. It sounds like a totally cool episode, I hope we get to see how Cam and Booth's friendship started.
