Beyonce: 'You Oughta Know' this Grammys Alanis Morissette song

beyonce-grammys-320.jpgBeyonce surprised the Grammy audience with a nod to a fellow musical diva.

Amidst her performance of "If I were a Boy," Beyonce suddenly broke into the angry Alanis Morissette anthem "You Oughta Know" Sunday night (Jan. 31).

A sample of the lyrics:

And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

Beyonce had been owning the stage already, but with the song switch, the dance moves became even more frenetic.

The girl sure knows how to entertain. The video doesn't do the performance justice.

Beyonce had already won four Grammys pre-telecast and had just nabbed the best song Grammy for "Single Ladies" before launching into the performance.

"You Oughta Know" earned Morissette a Grammy nomination for song of the year, but lost out to Seal's "Kiss From a Rose."

We were wowed. What about you?

I thought the performance was great! B has a set of lungs on her that are undeniable. And ol' Alanis Morissette. I LOOOVE that song. It reminds me of my high school days. Just angry. (lol)

wow, i usually thumb my nose at the girl, but that was pretty great. Energetic as all end!!!!!

Who would've even thought to do a mash-up of those songs?? Fantastic!

She sucks, she can't sing and her videos are awful.

She performs this mash-up during her I Am... tour as well, at least she did in Tokyo. You go girl!

Beyonce's performance was awful. Boring, out of key, pitchy and uninspiring. Britney made "You Oughta Know" way more fun when she sang it on a few dates of the Circus tour. YouTube it. Beyonce is a copycat.

If you wanna talk about a great performance, look no further than P!Nk. She was absolutely incredible!

oh yeah Tim, crotch-grabbing is so classy! anyway, i don't care what she grabs, i think her music is way overrated, esp that crappy "Single Ladies" song. She has to sing someone else's song because her own music is just so bad. and why is she trying so hard to look like a white person?

She certainly thinks highly of herself. What an offensive performance. The only highlight was when she almost when over in those ridiculous shoes (not that I would want her to get hurt just land on her butt). Any one who has to give themselves an alter-ego name Sasha, Gaga, Meme, Slim Shady, J-Zeey really think too highly of their place in life

I applaud the selection; I'd prefer Beyonce a bit more like Tina and a little less like Diana.

As to an alter-ego, that's a time honored tradition going back to at least the early 70s.

Not a problem. What is a problem is not having a personality in the first place, real or faux.

Artists with a flaw like that end up being like Adam Lambert, i.e., caricatures of a cause.

Yes AmericanEagleJRL, I actually thought that Pink had the best performance of the night. That's not taking anything away from B though.
