'American Idol' David Cook's 'Billie Jean' goes ice dancing
The Olympics and "American Idol" worlds collide on the ice.David Cook's cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" was used as the soundtrack for an ice dance exhibition on Sunday, Jan. 24 for National Figure Skating Championships gold medal winners Meryl Davis and Charlie White.
This was the final exhibition show, and it was a great finish.
Cook's version of "Billie Jean" is moodier, and seen here, adds a great, dreamy quality to the dance.

That last spinning lift was outstanding. The music was haunting and really fit the routine.

I get why they chose this David Cook recording (yes, we know -- it's Cook's version of Chris Cornell's arrangement of BJ) -- but 2 yrs. later and I'm still listening to it almost every day too. Amazing for one of those rushed, over-the-weekend middle-of-AI sessions. Good taste Davis and White -- and good luck in Vancouver!

Billie Jean by David Cook is hauntingly beautiful. Great choreography to this song.
David Cook is such an amazing talent, and he possesses a heart of gold. He grabbed our attention, and our hearts, back in Spring '08 and to this day we can't get enough of him. His version of Billie Jean has always haunted me. I must say, White and Davis not only skate beautifully, but they obviously have fantastic taste! :)
David Cook fans...David's rendition of Billie Jean is not "his version" it was a cover of a cover done by Chris Cornell...check out the CD Carry On by Chris Cornell which came out before the American Idol world even knew about David Cook.

David's soulful rendition of BJ deserves kuddos. I love his version. However, can't find it on iTunes. What up?
