'24': Who's Jack Bauer?

The early promos for season 8 of "24" have offered up something a little odd -- a smiling Jack Bauer.The latest teaser from FOX has the same thing: a happy Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) talking with daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) before, you know, he's drawn back into saving the world again.
This latest clip, scored to Jay-Z and Rihanna's "Run This Town," features a little bit more of "The Shield's" Benito Martinez as the man who brings Bauer back into the terrorism-fighting fold and more of a glimpse of the New York CTU (including a shot of Freddie Prinze Jr. as one of its agents). It also features what may be one of the most intentionally funny line in recent "24" history -- a younger member of the CTU staff asking, "Who is Jack Bauer?" (Less amusing, but just as good, is Jack saying "I hate this place" right at the end of the clip.)
Season 8 of "24" premieres Sunday, Jan. 17 and settles into its regular Monday home the following night. Take a look at the clip -- are you ready for another sleepless day?

YES! Can't wait. And I'm looking forward to seeing Jack do NYC.
At one time I had heard that season 8 would be the final season? Are they no longer saying that? I definitely enjoyed season 7, but I feel that there are only so many variations on "terrorists come up with 3 or 4 different plans to attack the U.S. all in the course of the day" that they can do, so I would mind them wrapping up the series.
24 in NYC. That should be good. Kiefer Sutherland is always fun to watch. I'm excited for his new biography, "Kiefer Sutherland: Living Dangerously." It comes out this month. Can't wait for it.
Yeahh, Jack is back!
24 is one of the best shows on TV right now. I am sick of all these dumb reality shows where everyone is either half naked, trashy or stupid. Jack is hot and so is the rest of the cast. Go Jack!!

Its about time, we need a good, no great show to be back on the air!!! Jack is back!!!!!! Please don't let season 8 be the last.
Have a question about the prequel. Some how I missed it. Will it be on TV again or do you sell the DVD??? My son gave me season 6 as a Mother's Day gift and I couldn"t watch it until I've seen 1-5 so I bought them also 7 then I found out there was a prequel I missed. The prequal to Season 7 is called 24: Redemption. Should be out on DVD (I know it is in Australia where I live)
