Whatchoo talkin' 'bout? Twitter, 'Twilight' and swine flu, apparently

The Global Language Monitor has released the most-used words of 2009. Twitter tops the list, to the surprise of no one under the age of 70.

Twitter, the social networking phenomenon that is sweeping the nation, topped the list. President of GLM, Paul JJ Payack, said that it shows "how big Twitter is globally." But the firm was slightly surprised that Michael Jackson didn't crack the Top 5.

The second word on the list was "Barack Obama," while "H1N1" came in third. That's a bit of a surprise to us; we figured "swine flu" would split the usage with "H1N1," driving it further down the list.

Rounding out the Top 5 are "stimulus" and "vampire." One can assume those two terms are not related and that "stimulus" refers to an economic item... but with the way Robert Pattinson looks playing Edward Cullen, could go either way.
