I was actually impressed with Flash Forward last night which is new!!! Good to see Fringe's numbers bounce back a little it's not a mainstream show so the numbers will never be huge just hope it keeps enough viewers to get renewed.

I think everyone's noticing by now how NBC, once host to Must See Thursday, is now not even a factor on Thursdays even though the press is covering their shows as if they were highly popular.

The Mentalist's re-run numbers, gaining of the lead-in bode well for the shows future in that timeslot.

ABC has given up on hyping FlashForward and I wonder if the journalists who lionized it as a major hit are going to print a retraction or even acknowledge their error...

Still waiting... ;)

ABC’s Flash Forward fell to a series low 2.2 rating for adults 18-49. On the flipside, Fringe hit a season high its highest rating since its season premier with 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. ABC tied repeat heavy CBS for the nightly 18-49 ratings crown. Note that the NFL Network Jets/Bills game was carried on ABC in the Buffalo market and CW in New York, so those results are subject to more than typical revisions, likely downward.

Fringe fans have reason to celebrate, absent the competition from Grey’s Anatomy and a new CSI, it had its highest rating since the season premiere, up 25% from last week. Bones was also up 7% from its last regular telecast on 11/19.

While Flash Forward crashed to a series low, the 2 hour Private Practice was up 3% from its regular 1 hour telecast on 11/19 to a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating.

Compared to their last regular telecasts on 11/19, the early NBC line up was all up. Community up 10%, Parks & Recreation up 5%, The Office up 11% and 30 Rock up 7%. Only The Jay Leno Show was down, 6%, tieing its lowest Thursday rating ever.

CBS’ Survivor: Samoa was up a tenth of a ratings point from its 11/19 telecast (and, not surprisingly up 26% from its Thanksgiving telecast).

Street Teamers can say what they want, but FlashForward returns March 4, presumably to dodge the Olympics and air straight through without any low-rated reruns. Now ABC has also confirmed that V will return March 30 and air at 10pm after Lost.

After announcing the Ugly Betty move to Wednesday with Shark Tank at least temporarily filling Betty’s Friday spot, there’s not many blanks to fill in except for the new shows. I can only conclude that the reason we haven’t seen the full mid-season schedule yet is because ABC wants to pretty up the PR around its mid-season shows which it pretty obviously has no faith in at all.

The problem with FlashForward is that it's produced by David Goyer and Brannon Braga. They both have a recent history for poor scripting and I think that's what the ratings reflect (as well as the paucity of the shot-on-video look).

@PaoloB: you have hit the nail on the head of NBC's problem (aka Mr. Jeff Zucker): as long as they can't pick a good show, they can do whatever they'd like with programming and PR, it won't amount to much at all.

Many people on this board told them five nights of Leno was an insane proposition that could not work... and it didn't. It wasn't hard to predict, so how come people who spend 40 hours a week thinking about such things couldn't predict it?

As for 30Rock not holding The Office's numbers, it's saying a lot given how unimpressive The Office's numbers are when you strip them of the PR spin.

This post "Rena Moretti | December 4, 2009 9:14 AM" was of course not mine.

The idea that airing only new episodes is a good thing for a show is ridiculous as the only reason to do that is to avoid small re-run numbers, which are a sign of weakness, not strength.

In any case, that's it for me for today on this thread. :)

Again the Street Teamers are posting stuff under my name. Thanksm Zap2it.

People(Rena)really get passionate about ratings and networks hyping shows and I don't get it. Why do people care if a network hypes a show(here's a secret its called advertising) all I care about is whether or not a show I like has enough viewers to get renewed and thats it and if my shows get cancelled who cares life goes on.

I don't know what your qualifications are Rena, but I always like your posts. No need for me to read any inside industry mags or even TV Guide for that matter! :)

What a shame I knew "Flash Forward" would fail. Who wants to watch a show that confuses you every week. it's a terrible concept and should fail.
