TV Ratings: 'Sunday Night Football' scores for NBC
Not even a plane crash on Wisteria Lane could topple a Brett Favre-Kurt Warner "Sunday Night Football" matchup on NBC.UPDATE: Ratings changed to reflect mistake in titles.
NBC averaged 15 million viewers Sunday night and a 9.1 rating/14 share, easily beating out the ABC's "Desperate Housewives" plane crash and "Brothers & Sisters" wedding, which averaged 11 million viewers and a 6.7/10.
Coming in just behind ABC was CBS's "Amazing Race" finale; CBS averaged 10.2 million viewers and a 6.4/10. FOX's cartoon reruns were counterbalanced by the end of the afternoon football games and the BCS selection show, to give it an average of 9.5 million viewers and a 5.7/9.
NBC easily won the 18-49 age group with a 5.6 rating. FOX came in at 3.9 for a good second-place showing. ABC and CBS came in at 3.4 and 2.3, respectively.

UPDATE: My apologies about the "Three Rivers"/"Cold Case" mistake. The release we got of the ratings had those listed as the programs. I wrote this piece and as I recap the ABC shows on Sunday nights, I was not aware those titles were wrong. The piece has been amended to reflect the actual broadcasted shows. Thanks everybody.
Ratings information includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.

surprised the much-hyped DH plane crash didn't add any viewers. Guess people that abandoned the show never came back.
THREE RIVERS WASNT ON???
No one cares about stupid reality NBC programming, obviously o nce NFL is over theyre ratings will tank. Nice job by ABC netwrok again, best shows on TV Desparate Housewives and Bros and Sisters rocked, and Extreme Makeover is just hitting is stride. Tour de france performance by bunnified network leader ABC!
It would be nice to have the half-hour shows given each their own rating.
I realize that may be a Nielsen issue, not a zap2it issue, but combined ratings really don't enlighten as much. :)
On the other hand, the zap2it posting software still doesn't work properly... :(
Way to go Cards !! A nice thrashing of Brett Favre and the Vikings
I dont think that viewers will stay away ince football ends they will come back.
Since it would be nice to have the half-hour shows given each their own rating, I have decided to post them:
Sunday Night Football booted NBC to the ratings win on Sunday, but a football overrun lifted a mostly repeat Fox lineup to #2. The Amazing Race finale finished strong, up 19% from its Spring ‘09 and Fall ‘08 finales with a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating. ABC’s Brothers & Sisters hit a season high 3.7 adults 18-49 rating, up 28% from last week (also its highest rating since 3/1/09).
Fox’s average for the night was boosted tremendously by the NFL overrun into primetime (which was Cowboys/Giants in the Eastern and Central time zones). The BCS Selection Show earned a 3.4 rating, and that was enough to hold them at #2 in the average ratings for the night even with an hour and a half of repeats.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was flat with last week with a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating. Desperate Housewives was up 9% last week to a 4.8 rating, just slightly above the DH season average of a 4.71 rating.
Cold Case, freed of the Three Rivers albatross, and starting on time, managed a 2.2 rating, up 5% from last week.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football Game 13: Vikings vs. Cardinals delivered a 6.8 adults 18-49 rating from 830-11p, on par with last week’s Game 12 (Steelers vs. Ravens) which posted a 6.6 rating in the Fast Nationals before rising to a 7.6 rating from 8:31-11:50p in the Finals..

How many more Sunday football games are left? We should be nearing the end ... which means the end of any ratings for NBC on Sunday. It's not like they have any actual programming.
@Waxine:
That was a great analysis, a good example that the Street Teamers need to think outside the box more often.
Now to address your concern, NBC's strength is in its cable channels and not the NBC network itself. As a result if you look at the bottom line and profitability, the football season ending will not have an effect on NBC.
Also, the Winter Olympics will be starting in February. It is interesting how simple minded people can be when it comes to TV analysis.
Three rivers?? where did you see that it did 9.7 million?
is there a mistake?
