Susan Boyle has 'Dream' week on the charts
This week's Billboard album chart features the likes of Adam Lambert, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift -- all of whom are staring up at Susan Boyle. The "Britain's Got Talent" sensation soared to the top of the Billboard 200 with her debut album, "I Dreamed a Dream." The album sold 701,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the biggest opening-week seller of 2009 (Eminem held the previous mark with 608,000 copies of "Relapse"). Boyle had already conquered the British charts, having sold 410,000 copies in her home country.
"I Dreamed a Dream" is also the best-selling debut album ever for a female artist, eclipsing Ashanti's 2002 debut by almost 200,000 copies, and the second-highest debut album since SoundScan started tabulating sales in 1991. Only Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" (803,000) did better.
Lambert's "For Your Entertainment" enters the chart at No. 3 (behind tenor Andrea Bocelli's Christmas album) with 198,000 copies moved. Rihanna's "Rated R" sold 181,000 copies to take the No. 4 spot, one ahead of Lady Gaga's eight-song "The Fame Monster." Gaga's "Fame" is at No. 6; Miley Cyrus, Swift, Carrie Underwood and Norah Jones round out the female-heavy top 10.

198,000? What happened to 225,000-300,000?
Overselling Glambert again!
She doesn't have to be pretty, but she just ain't that good vocally. After hearing her Amazing Grace, I pulled up Joan Biaz's version. There is no comparison. The strength of Joan's voice and emotional quality are so superior to Boyle's. I really don't get Boyle popularity except she's safe. And everyone loves a good story.
Shocked is a good word to describe this woman's popularity, but how long before her 15 minutes of fame are up?
I love Susan Boyle and I am so happy for her. Her album has already sold 3 million copies worldwide in just one week. She is beloved by many millions of people so your put-downs don't mean a thing to her or to her fans.
Go Susan!!! Congrats!
YOU MADE A MISTAKE!! Eminem DID NOT hold the previous debut sales record with 608,000 copies for "Relapse."
The previous debut sales record was held by Clay Aiken selling 613,000 copies of "Measure Of A Man."
