'Steven Seagal Lawman' posts arresting ratings for A&E

A show following Steven Seagal's exploits as a sheriff's deputy in Louisiana set a record for a series launch on A&E Wednesday."Steven Seagal Lawman" debuted to 3.5 million viewers Wednesday night, breaking A&E's record for the premiere of an original series -- which had stood for all of two days. The season premiere of "Hoarders" on Monday drew 3.2 million people.
"Lawman" also drew 2 million people in the adults 18-49 demographic, again breaking a mark set by "Hoarders" (1.9 million) on Monday.
"Steven Seagal Lawman" follows the martial artist and action-movie star on his patrols as a deputy for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana (where he's moonlighted for the past 20 years). Critics have highlighted its unintentional comedy, but viewers didn't seem to mind (or maybe were hoping for it). Wednesday night's second half-hour episode drew 3.6 million viewers, up from 3.4 million for the first episode.
Seagal is an executive producer of the show, alongwith John X. Kim and Phillip B. Goldfine.

wow, surprising!
Yet another sign of the fall of civilization.
I like Mr. Seagal's early films. But he should be ashamed of himself for allowing himself to get so out of shape and representing himself as a law enforcement officer / Deputy. He has no repect for himself or pride in himself to get so out of shape and try to portray himself as an in shape law enforcement officer / deputy. It is offensive to all street cops. There is no way he could chase down a fleeing felon or other person of interest. I am a little younger than he, I am a survivor of bone cancer and open heart surgery and lost much of the use of my left leg due to bone cancer. But I manage keep myself in good shape and can still break glass and kick ***, even with limited use of my left leg. He is Bloated and is making a fool out of himself. If he is that good, and lives in the Los Angeles area (as I did) why does not LAPD or LASO the 2 largest law enforcement Agencies in the area use him ? I have trained many years with a training Organization made up of current and retired LAPD firearms instructors, patrol officers, and detectives and much of what Mr. Segal teaches I take issue with. How many gun fights has he been in ? The LAPD firearms instructor I trained with was in 5. All were rightous shootings / in policy shootings and he was not injured. Who would you like to train with, this insturctor who is a cop 7x24 or Mr. Segal not a real cop but just plays one on TV ? This gun fighting Organization trains LAPD officers, LASO Deputies, Federal Court Judges, etc in tactics, firearms, open head self defense and the law.
Just becasue an angency is small does not mean their training is poor. I am a volunteer with the local sheriff's dept where I live now (left LA 6 years ago) and this is a 700 person department and their training is very good.

This show wouldn't even make it as a comedy, let alone as what A&E is trying to potray it as.
I hope this series does well in the ratings so they can get rid of White Trash The Bounty Hunter. It's long since been time for that show to go so it can stop stinking up the network.

Dont like it dont watch it period. It wasnt that good really and not because of Segal. I have just seen that kind of show a million times before.
@Ricky Kurtz: You're entirely right that "reality" TV is entirely bereft of actual reality. It is indeed all a sham orchestrated by the producers.
As for the "record ratings", they only underline how poorly rated A&E is in general and the power of advertising to draw for the first episode.
But it is indeed sad to see money being wasted on such uninteresting subjects.
