'Jersey Shore's' Snooki on today's Wendy Wiliams: We're just misunderstood

"Jersey Shore's" Snooki appears Friday (Dec. 11) on "The Wendy Williams Show" to address Italian-American groups who are protesting the new "juiced up" MTV show.

"The Italian, whatever, national, whatever their organization is," says Snooki, 21. "They don't understand that guidos and guidettes are good-looking people that, you know, like to make a scene and be the center of attention and just take care of themselves. They are old fashioned."

Snooki, of Marlboro, NY, appears in the show's opening announcement after Italian-American groups and New Jersey tourism officials spearheaded a campaign against "Jersey Shore." At least two advertisers have pulled their commercials in response to the criticism.

Snooki, whose first name is really Nicole, goes on to say, "They think it's offensive, because maybe in their time it was offensive, but now it's kind of a compliment. So they don't understand that and that is what we are trying to say. They are way over reacting to the show. We're 22 to 29 just having fun at the shore."
