'Jersey Shore': MTV pulls Snooki punch, blames viral video
It was the punch heard around the shore and then, thanks to MTV, in our living rooms and on our computers. It's a hard-knock-life for the kids who were picked to live in a house in "Jersey Shore." That is most true for poor Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, who found herself on the wrong side of a "guido's" punch. Although MTV has already shown the knockout several times on-air, the network has decided to pull the scene from the next episode."What happened to Snooki was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing," MTV says in a statement. "After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context not to show the severity of this act or resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in the face."
Recently, TMZ caught the "Jersey Shore" cast in Los Angeles. While Snooki made no comment on the incident, housemate Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said, "It was an unfortunate incident, right there. A guy should never hit a girl."
Although MTV claims to be pulling the video as a result of it being "taken out of context," the network itself only showed bits of the scene in promo spots and teasers. To make up for their "bad," MTV will still air a PSA from the Love is Respect Project, a teen dating abuse hotline, after the newly edited episode.
While you're at it, MTV, can you cut any future scenes of Snooki eating pickles? That was just wrong.
Check out this video showing Snooki getting clocked and let us know what you think. Did the web take it to a whole new level or did MTV disrespectfully exploit the violence first?

i told you this show was trashy and gross. LOSERS!!!!!so where's all the show's defenders now????? :P
Thank god someone finally decided to shut that b*** up! What does she expect to happen talking so much?
I dont care what a woman does to me you never hit a women no matter what!!!!!
No, I think him hitting her was totally okay. She deserved it. They all deserve a good hit to the face.
haha i think it is funny but it is still wrong a guy should never hit a girl no matter what but is still funny
I'm just glad someone from this show got punched. Now if someone could just knock out the producers responsible for filling the airwaves with this mind-numbing garbage....
I cant believe a dude would hit a girl like that! It doesnt matter what she said or how pissed he was. I will **** that piece of jersey trash up if I ever run into him! Come to Philly and try that **** ***** boy.
No, she's a guidette, which makes her inhuman and not a female. Therefore, hitting her was perfectly acceptable.
I wonder if MTV wou;d have had a problem with the video if it were a man hitting another man. I also question if the network will be using stronger guidelines when it comes to showing violence, even if it's implied or threatened. How many of MTV's shows have cast members freaking out out on others and threatening harm. It does add to the "drama", doesn't it?
