'Glee': Idina Menzel 'would love' to play Rachel's mom
Many "Glee" fans have whispered and speculated about Rachel Berry's family for months. But we still have never met Rachel's parents -- her gay dads or her biological mom -- but what if when we do meet mommy, she's played by Broadway babe, Idina Menzel?
Seems Menzel, best known for her role as Elphaba in "Wicked," is game.
Menzel's husband, "Private Practice" star Taye Diggs, told Fancast.com this week that he and his wife are admirers of both "Glee" and Lea Michele, who plays the young Ms. Berry. He said he knows Idina "would love" to do the show.
The couple is actually friendly with Lea, who starred on Broadway in "Spring Awakening" during her pre-"Glee" days.
So, yeah, this all seems like a super solid idea.

I've always thought if they were gonna bring in Rachel's mom, the obvious casting choice would be Idina. the only problem is that they might look a little too similar. From that pic it took me a minute to see which one was Lea and which one was Idina. But yeah, Idina has always been the obvious choice.

Yes! Idina as Rachel's Mom would be stellar. Now who should play her dads??? Gotta say, more excited to meet them first!
Also, would be cool if Taye Diggs played Idina's husband on Glee.
Now after seeing this there is no other choice but to have Idina play biomom!!! i read somewhere else (and agreed) that taye should play one of the dads and i thought anthony rapp should be one as well... thoughts?

i VERY much agree on making anthony rapp as a dad of rachels =D... as for taye it would be amazing but he does have another show and people are already complaining about glee turning into a wicked, spring awakening thing (which i really don't care about that cause all of these are different and amazing in it's own way)
