'FlashForward,' 'V' will return in March

flashforward1112_290.jpg"FlashForward" is taking a sizable winter break, and "V" will be paired with "Lost" in the spring, ABC says.

The network announced Thursday night that "FlashForward" will go on hiatus until March 4, which will give it a 12-episode run to end the season. "V," meanwhile, will return on March 30, moving from 8 p.m. Tuesdays to 10 p.m. after "Lost."

In both cases, the return dates will put their respective shows' season finales in the middle of May sweeps.

"FlashForward" aired a trailer for the second half of the season at the end of Thursday's episode, which was the show's 10th. The March 4 return date means that the show's 19th episode should air April 29, 2010 -- the date to which the shows' characters flashed when they blacked out in the pilot. That jibes with previous comments from the show's creative team, who have said that April 29 wouldn't be the season finale.

The most likely candidate to replace "FlashForward" in January and February is probably the legal drama "The Deep End," which has a similar sensibility to ABC's other Thursday shows, "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice."

The move of "V" to 10 p.m. will keep it away from direct competition with FOX's "American Idol." It also likely means that the "Dancing with the Stars" results show will move from its previous 9 o'clock slot back to 8, where it will compete with "Idol."

i seriously am rooting for abc to fail now. i've had it. they take off flashforward for three months and V for four months. flashforward was already dying and now it will really be dead when it comes back in the ratings. and V is a definitely not a 10pm show. i don't care if the time slot is easier. its a 8 or 9pm show. its a serial show that people don't watch that late. and most of all, sci fi serial shows do awful after lost. its a fact. you would have thought after the nine, invasion and life on mars all died, they wouldn't have put V in that timeslot. plus they expect people to watch lost, flashforward and V at the same time. lost is one of the best shows ever. after that i root for V and flashforward and abc to fail. this is pathetic scheduling.

I lost interest in all three shows so nothing lost (no pun intended).

Lost is the only one of those shows that I watch, but I agree that ABC is stupid to do this... you would think they learned their lesson with Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money about keeping shows off the air for so long that the audience forgets about them and/or simply gives up and moves on. ABC was kind-of the "new NBC" when they finally started scheduling good shows and became a hit again while NBC fell apart... now they again seem to be turning into the "new NBC" all over again by making a lot of the same kinds of dumb decisions. They should be careful.

They are only doing this because of the winter olympics and AI coming back. I think its smart thing to do. Yea they might lose some viewers but they were going to lose viewers anyways when AI comes back.

Although the wait will be annoying, I do applaud ABC deciding not to sacrifice V opposite American Idol, though I don't know whether the later time slot will help or hinder the show, viewers-wise.

Oh people ... you have been waiting more time for 24 year after year and yet you still watch ... so why do you complain!!!

"FlashForward" was amazing last night and I can't wait to see what happens next ... even if I have to wait 3 more months ...

Heck I have been waiting for "Lost" for the past 7 months ... why not wait some more for some great shows ...

What's with ABC,the two best shows of the year pulled until March. There's nothing left on ABC to watch now. See ya.

Must say last nights Flash Forward episodes was one of the best yet and V should take notice on how to leave the viewer wanting more right before going on hiatus. Personally I don't care about the wait its not the end of the world to wait 4 months as long as the show is worth it and if its not oh well you won't be watching anyways...

Who cares if the show is gone for 3-4 months. Rather watch all first runs then reruns. Besides, HBO, Showtime, AMC, FX, TNT, Bravo, etc...don't show 23 eps of shows at once. They actually show less and have breaks in between seasons and you all praise their shows. Get a life people or become a VP of Programming for a network.

If the timeslot is not good on Tuesdays once AI is back - why not move V to a different night? Just not on Fridays as most network shows die there. They'll end up canning it like Eastwick - without even trying a different night. Morons.
