DISH Network, DIRECTV ready should Time Warner-FOX dispute drag on

dish-network-directv-logos.jpgWhile representatives for both DISH Network and DIRECTV tell Zap2it that it is too early to tell if the threat of losing all FOX-owned and -operated stations come Jan. 1 has caused a sudden influx of new subscribers to their services, that doesn't mean they aren't prepared.

DISH began running television ads on Monday (Dec. 28) targeting customers in affected markets looking, supplementing with door hangings and print ads.

Part of DISH's plan is to provide next-day installation for subscribers wishing to switch.

"The next-day installations will vary per market while capacity allows," a spokesman tells Zap2it. "We're ramping up our installers in designated markets and urging people to call early to schedule their install so that we can accommodate everyone leaving no one with interrupted service."

Meanwhile, DIRECTV says that "customers can always upgrade to DIRECTV, but as of right now we are not actively marketing the dispute as we don't want to be used in the negotiation, and it's too early to tell how this will all shake out."

Time Warner did not respond to requests for comment.

One should have more in their life than just crying over a cable channel. As far as the Fox network stations affected, there is something called "over-the-air", and it's free, and in most cases HD with subchannels!

LOL. "Meanwhile, DIRECTV says that "customers can always upgrade to DIRECTV, but as of right now we are not actively marketing the dispute as we don't want to be used in the negotiation, and it's too early to tell how this will all shake out." No, they are just using willing "news" outlets to do their ads for them, for free. What the heck was the point of this article, other than to give them a free ad?

who said it was a free ad?

all FOX wants is one dollar, which is equal to what TNT gets so i don't see the big deal. afterall, FOX gives us 15 hours of programming a week and the current broadcast model isn't helping them economically.

It starts at a dollar and then the next thing ya know we will all be complaining. "just a dollar"? Then how much more the next time and what about the other free channels? Will they ask for a "dollar" and when the economy turns back around and advertisers are paying again, will they drop that dollar? I dont think so.

Pablo B.... Are you a subscriber to TWC in an affected area? I would guess not...Not only is FOX going to be gone, SPEED TV, Fox Sports SW, FUEL TX and FX. So your little diddy about OTA is not flying with me. Time Warner pulled this crap last year with Viacom. So, I think we know where the greed lies!

The greed lies on both sides of this - they're just fighting over which one of them gets to hold us upside down and shake us until our last coins fall out of our pockets. Bastids.

Time Warner is a subpar cable subscriber... I'd leave them if I had available options in my market. Any subscriber not on ESPN360 is useless, and their web interface for cable is lacking... I say Fox - pull from TW - and open the market for a new topdog.

why don't the us government just bail both the bastids out and give the ceo's and extra million

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
