'Damages,' 'Nip/Tuck' return in January

glennclose_damages_290.jpgFX has decided not to make anyone wait for the final season of "Nip/Tuck," which along with a new season of "Damages" will hit your screens in January.

The animated series "Archer" will also premiere in January, while the new drama "Justified" and comedy "Louie" will debut in the spring.

"Nip/Tuck" is scheduled to wrap up its sixth season on Dec. 16. It will be off the air for only three weeks before the final nine episodes begin. That's a far cry from FX's original plan, announced in summer 2008, that put the series finale in 2011. Now the final episode is scheduled for March 3.

"Damages" begins its third season on Monday, Jan. 25. Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Tate Donovan and Ted Danson will all return to the show, and they'll be joined by Campbell Scott and Martin Short as series regulars and guest stars Keith Carradine, Lily Tomlin and Len Carion. FX isn't saying anything about the storyline for this season, but it's probably worth noting that Scott's, Tomlin's and Carion's characters all have the same last name (Tobin).

"Archer," meanwhile, will take over "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's" Thursday-night spot on Jan. 14. The animated spy comedy from "Frisky Dingo" co-creator Adam Reed features voice work from H. Jon Benjamin ("Home Movies"), Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter and Judy Greer.

"Justified" -- which used to be called "Lawman" -- will premiere in March, FX says. The series, based on an Elmore Leonard story, stars Timothy Olyphant as a U.S. marshal who's a throwback to an earlier era. "Louie," starring comedian Louis C.K., is set for a spring premiere, though FX hasn't gotten any more specific than that.

I'm still watching Nip/Tuck, but not really sure why, guess it's a habit. I have to watch till the end. It just gets wierder & wierder. The storyline with Matt in jail and getting boobs implanted by Christian is past bizarre....Rose McGowan as Teddi was so bad, couldn't get past those fake duck lips. Kimber has been the most normal lately.......

I'll probably watch Damages, even though I thought it lost its way last season. But I REALLY can't wait for Justified. Seeing a modern-day Seth Bullock really appeals to me (and from my understanding, that's the plan).

After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car, his father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home and I wanted to stay with you guys."
