Charles Gibson leaving ABC's 'World News' Dec. 18
In just over two weeks, Charles Gibson is signing off from the "World News" desk for the last time. The Associated Press is reporting that Charles Gibson, who has anchored the ABC evening news for three years, is officially leaving the show on Dec. 18. He had announced his retirement in September, having been with ABC News in some capacity for over 30 years.
Diane Sawyer has been announced as Gibson's replacement. Conventional wisdom was that Sawyer would take over after the New Year, but now that Gibson has named a departure date, perhaps we will see her behind the anchor desk sooner.
Now that Katie Couric is at the CBS news desk and Diane Sawyer is soon to be at ABC... move over, Brian Williams. Meredith Vieira's on her way!

Well so much for watching Good Morning America the rest of the month. Once Diane leaves, the show will tank. Her coworkers all suck on that show. Robin doesn't have the presence or image to lead it to anything but a downhill spiral. Buh-Bye ABC
Gee. Where will they ever find someone who is capable of sitting in a chair and reading things off a teleprompter. A parrot could have done what he did.
take about agisim, getting replaced by a hot younger blond... poor guy.

Dear Charlie,
We will truly miss you. We wish you all the best. We welcome you in our living room everyday. Please send us an autographed picture.
Thanks,
From two of your #1 fans.
Diane Sawyer, what a horrible choice to replace Charlie Gibson. She was okay for Good Morning America. But please NOT WORLD NEWS!
I tried looking at the new show today and it just doesn't work. She gives a look during every story as if her entire family just died in a horrific house fire.
ABC you will come to regret this choice. I hope someone figures it out before the audience is gone.
