'American Idol' winner Jordin Sparks singing at 2009 National Tree Lighting

jordin-sparks-wireimage.jpgThe annual White House Tree Lighting is Thursday, Dec. 3 and "American Idol" season 6 winner Jordin Sparks will be on hand to sing.

Jordin is just one of several artists invited to the ceremony, which is traditionally when the President brings a message of peace to the nation before the giant White House Christmas tree is lit.

The tree itself is a Colorado blue spruce planted in 1978. It was 30 ft tall when planted and today is 46 years old and stands almost 42 ft tall. Just a little botanical info for you guys. We're a full-service blog here at Zap2it.

Besides Ms. Sparks, other performers joining in the festivities are Sheryl Crow, Common, Ray LaMontagne, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau and Celtic Woman.

The ceremony will be streamed live on The National Tree official website starting at 5 pm/2 pm ET/PT Dec. 3.

Hopefully we don't see any "Real Housewives" storming the stage. Though I think Jordin could handle herself. Her dad played professional football. How much would you love to see Jordin body-check Michaele Salahi?
