kelliepickler-santababy.jpgKellie Pickler has already gotten something for Christmas: a new hair color.

The newly auburn-haired "American Idol" season 5 finalist also has a new song out. She covers the gold-digging standard "Santa Baby" for the compilation "A Very Special Christmas, Vol. 7," the video for which is now on CMT.com.

As for the new hair (which she's been sporting since the CMA Awards last month), it suits her just fine. As for the song, it's a pretty straightforward cover of the old standby, and she does a decent job with it. "Santa Baby" is not one of my personal holiday favorites, but Pickler wisely doesn't go too far over the top in laying out her very expensive Christmas list. And hey, it's in service of a good cause (proceeds from "A Very Special Christmas" benefit the Special Olympics).

Take a look at the video for yourself. What do you think?

One of the best vampy or torchy standards for a female singer at Christmas, and it's not one of your personal favorites? What team you playing for, dude?

Note to Adam Lambert's stagers: if you surround him with lights so he can't move, like was done in this video, you'll no longer have to worry about his live performances.

The best I've heard. LOVE IT

It's an okay version, but her voice sounds a bit too forced and is not quite sultry enough. I prefer Ertha Kitts version better.
