'American Idol' Jennifer Hudson and Michael Buble: 'Baby It's Cold Outside'
Jennifer Hudson went home for the holidays, and the result was only partially bittersweet. For the "I'll Be Home for Christmas" special Monday night, "American Idol" finalist and Oscar winner returned to Chicago, where her mother, brother and nephew were murdered just over a year ago.
Regardless, Hudson kept it professional and delivered her songs beautifully. And even though her performances of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" or "O Holy Night" showed off her beautiful voice to advantage, we chose to share one of our particular favorites, the sassy duet "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Michael Buble.
It's such a fun, swinging tune with great harmonies and a sense of humor and slyness. The only disappointment was that neither Hudson nor Buble made the singing flirtatious, which is one of the main points.
"Baby" is a winter or holiday classic and won an Oscar for best original song for the 1949 film "Neptune's Daughter."

first song I remember- Easter Williams and Red Skeleton- was hypnotised- and this song never forgotten.More than half century ago, sounds scarey. Several greats since then,Elvis, Barbarba, Neil Diamond,Queen, MJ,Adam.Been great.
This is a great song, the Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Jordan version is so good it brings you to your knees...this version, sorry but not so much. something about it is off.
Sorry - this dueting is just not my cup of eggnog however I do enjoy Michael Buble's singing individually. It's not like I'm not a fan of JH's singing. But if a choice between Michael and Robin Thicke - have to go with Robin. As for JH - can't exactly think of anyone at the moment who I'd prefer over JH. I love her single "Spotlight."
I'm just not into this version of a song I adore. JH and Buble almost sound bored with each other. That lack of flirtation mentioned.....it kills the song.
Much prefer the Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Jordan version. (Though James Taylor and Natalie Cole also have a version that's pretty great.)
I agree with the other comments. I love JH and am a big MB fan but this performance seemed disconnected. I love the dean martin version as well as barry manilow with diane schurr. I was very disappointed with Michaels appearance on the show. But, I remain a member of Buble'Nation and will go to the show in Worcester Mass in March.
For me, my all-time favorite version of "Baby It's Cold Outside" is by Barry Manilow and KT Oslin. Yes, I am serious. They nail the flirtation and humor of the song.
I really like how Jennifer Hudson is so versatile. This talented young lady can sing with anybody. I love Michael also, and he is wonderful. I think they did a great job.
I agree with Rita - Barry Manilow and K.T. Oslin have the very best version of "Baby It's cold Outside"
I also agree that the Barry Manilow/K.T. Oslin duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" from his "Because It's Christmas" CD is the very best because they nailed the flirtation and humor of the song! Barry and his dear friend and back-up singer, Debra Byrd, also did a superb duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for the "Barry Manilow Christmas" Special for A & E.
I love both Michael Buble and Jennifer Hudson but there was absolutely no chemistry between them during this song - a big disappointment. Hands down the best duet of "Baby Its Cold Outside" is by Barry Manilow & Debra Byrd- but only Barry's fans know that one. 2nd runner up is Barry & K.T. Oslin - they put life into the song!
