'Twilight: New Moon's Robert Pattinson gets 'American Idol' pedigree, Kidman co-star

So will we get to see Team Edward at the "American Idol" judges' table? Maybe Robert Pattinson nibbling on Simon Cowell's neck?

Okay, probably not. "Twilight: New Moon" star Pattinson will, though, work with "American Idol" honcho Simon Fuller on "Bel Ami," based on Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel.

Fuller will executive produce the film, and Nicole Kidman has signed on as a co-star.

"Bel Ami" follows amoral journalist Georges Duroy, who uses his harem of mistresses to move up the social and professional ladders.

Filming is set to begin in February 2010.
