TV ratings: 'Mentalist,' 'CSI' lead CBS Thursday sweep
Fast National ratings for Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009A slightly down night for ABC Thursday resulted in an across-the-board ratings win for CBS, which led primetime in both in viewers and demographic ratings.
CBS was off a touch from the last couple weeks as well, but it still snagged the top spot with 14.35 million viewers and an 8.8 rating/14 share in households. ABC (10.3 million, 6.8/11) finished second. FOX (7.9 million, 5.0/8) came in third, a good distance ahead of fourth-place NBC (5.4 million, 3.5/6). The CW averaged 3.2 million viewers and a 2.1/3 -- though that may change some since its Miami affiliate aired an NFL game instead of the regular lineup.
In the adults 18-49 demo, CBS' 3.7 rating topped ABC's 3.5 for the lead. FOX and NBC tied for third at 2.3, and The CW came in at 1.5.

ABC killed it in the all important 18 to 49 yo demo. Great night starting with the LOST-eque FlashForward, the grand dam of quality dramas Greys Anathomy and Finally the junior hit Private Practice. Is BONES still on, it like nerds enough with Scully and Molder get a life and cant beileve people still watch the should have been cancelled show lasts years minor hit Fridge. CBS as usual had their generiatic older skewing programing on.
NoNow fake MEOWs post away... Am too busy today. By the way cant wait for the AMA on ABC... should be great!
Nonsense about it being a down night for dominance ABC, its best shows on TV Grey's and PP and on Wednesdday's Couger Town (I'm a couger) are all better then weak old fart CBS offerings. Mentalist is about the mentalist show on TV, who would believe that crap. Any posts before this one are fake MEOW's, keep that in mind :-)
Can NBC please kill 30 Rock?.
It is the WORST/UNFUNNIEST sitcom on TV.
Can't believe they dropped 'My name is Earl' for this turkey!.
The whole real/fake MEOW thing is getting old peeps
Not only is the fake meow stuff old... it's proof that someone needs to get a life. Seriously. Move on, get outside, and make some friends (or schedule an appointment for therapy).
Sorry for the delay, but here is my analysis:
-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led this third Thursday in November, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Second was ABC, with NBC and Fox sharing the No. 3 spot.
CBS’ Survivor: Samoa, one of the best editions of the veteran franchise in my humble opinion, led the 8 p.m. hour with 12.31 million viewers and a 3.8 rating/11 share among adults 18-49. Net was Fox’s underrated Bones (Viewers: 9.85 million: A18-49: 2.7/ 8), which works well no matter where it is positioned, followed by ABC’s FlashForward (Viewers: #3, 8.01 million; A18-49: #3, 2.4/ 7), struggling NBC sitcoms Community (Viewers: #4, 5.06 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 6) and Parks and Recreation (Viewers: #4, 4.61 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 6) and The Vampire Diaries on The CW (Viewers: #5, 3.72 million; A18-49: #5, 1.7/ 5).
CBS’ veteran CSI and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC shared leadership in the 9 p.m. hour as follows:
CSI (CBS)
Viewers: 14.95 million (#1), A18-49: 3.6/ 9 (#2)
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
Viewers: 13.96 million (#2), A18-49: 5.0/13 (#1)
Also airing from 9-10 p.m. was NBC’s The Office (Viewers: #3, 7.43 million; A18-49: #2, 3.7/ 9) and 30 Rock (Viewers: #3, 5.86 million; A18-49: #3, 2.9/ 7), Fox’s Fringe (Viewers: #4, 5.89 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 5) and Supernatural on The CW (Viewers: #5, 2.74 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3/ 3).
At 10 p.m., honors fell in CBS’ corner, with The Mentalist at a solid 15.79 million viewers and a 3.8/11 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that was the most-watched show of the evening. Second was ABC’s Private Practice (Viewers: 8.99 million; A18-49: 3.2/ 9), followed NBC’s failing The Jay Leno Show at 4.82 million viewers and a 1.6/ 5 in the demo.
Jack and mark, you two are the fools for reading the MEOW and Rena crap. Sorry boys but two losers aint gonna make a winna!
I find FLASH FORWARD continual drop upsetting. It sad when a network tries to come up with some INNOVATIVE programmingn like FLASH FORWARD and V and then you see the the numbers continue to go down as viewers bleed off because they can't be bothered to follow a continuing story and would rather tune in to see the some NCIS cops doing the same story week after week or the BONES team field yet another similar case or worse watch some weight challenged person try and take off a few pounds on national TV...that's entertainment? Give me FLASHFORWARD or V anyday!
Got tired of watching the CBS crime shows so just watched ABC last night, no wonder:
