TV ratings: CBS takes ratings, '20/20' captures demos Friday
Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 6, 2009
The love for shows celebrating their 20th anniversary is not just reserved for "The Simpsons." Viewers put NBC's "Law & Order" ahead of CBS' paranormal lineup on Friday. CBS did tie with NBC and ABC a couple of times during the night, but the Eye prevailed in rating averages for the night, and matched ABC in demographics (thanks to Rihanna's interview).
"Numb3rs," "Medium," and "Ghost Whisperer" drew 7.8 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/9 share in households for CBS, while NBC took in almost 7 million viewers and a 4.5/8. Third place went to ABC (5.8 million, 3.9/7), followed by FOX (3.9 million, 2.6/4) and The CW (1.9 million, 1.3/2).
CBS and ABC tied among adults 18-49 with a 1,8 rating, beating out CBS' 1.6. FOX came in third in the key ad demographic with a 1.2, followed by The CW at 0.9.

Much as I hate to say it, it's definitely time for CBS to start looking for new shows. They've been resting on their laurels for the past few years, and even though they still do well most nights, that time is coming to an end. The problem is that none of the other networks are doing much better, so CBS's mediocrity only looks like a success. It's hard to look bad when everyone around you is ten times worse, which is why CBS continues to shine. They are a match-light in a very dark cavern.
I think CBS ia doing great with this shows and remeber ia a friday night and GW and Medium are doin really good for a friday an they always get good numbers and they are great SHows!!!! Keep doing the great work CBS you are my friday salvation
Ghost Whisperer must be one of the worst shows ever made. Nice to see the great Law and Order beat it.
Doesn't it seem obvious from this experiment that NBC should move L&O permanently to 9pm Fridays?
I think Law & Order should've just stayed at 10 PM on Wednesday...oh wait, jay's there.
I love my Ugly betty! But we need a story line to get people hooked.
Who watches Jennifer Love Desperate???
Wow CBS' lineup is totally tanking. It started off great, but the ratings are slipping for all three shows.
Ugly Betty went up a smidge. I sure hope it does better. It won't, but I would like it too.
Smallville keeps going up. More people are finding it and flocking to it with Dollhouse on hiatus.
I love Tuesday nights on CBS and Friday nights on NBC with the exception of Jay Leno. Please replace him.
Very pleased to see Law & Order do better in the ratings after the last two Fridays.
