TV ratings: CBS rolls Tuesday; Heather Locklear doesn't help 'Melrose Place'

The top of Tuesday's ratings looked pretty much the same -- CBS cruised to a win. Farther down the list, though, ABC's "V" slipped again and Heather Locklear's first "Melrose Place" appearance didn't do much to boost the show.

(The CW does note that "Melrose Place" drew its biggest audience since Oct. 6, but not by much. Tuesday's show drew 1.54 million viewers, 158,000 more than last week and just 45,000 more than two weeks ago.)

CBS easily won the night with 15.9 million viewers and a 10.0 rating/16 share in households. ABC (10.9 million, 7.0/11) came in second. NBC (8.3 million, 4.8/8) finished third, while FOX grabbed fourth with 6 million viewers and a 3.8/6. The CW (1.8 million, 1.3/2) was in the back of the pack.

CBS also snagged the top spot among adults 18-49 with a 3.4 rating. NBC's 3.0 was good for second, beating out the 2.7 for ABC and 2.4 for FOX. The CW could only muster a 0.9.

Yes she did, it went up to 1.54 million from 1.3 last week, you have to give a show time to build and you have to applaud the CW for not being like other networks that give up on a show so quickly. Besides, everybody knows Nielsen is an estimate, it only counts 25,000 American households and multiplies up as an estimate, the US population is 307 million people, that in itself is ridiculous.

Melrose Place went up more than 10% with the welcome addition of Heather to the cast, so not sure how the writter did his analysis. Look like another person jealous of Heather's success.

I don't get why The CW is even listed with the other networks. It's clearly incapable (for whatever reason) of getting 20 million viewers the way CBS can. And this has been the case ever since UPN and The WB launched in the 90s. They should keep making shows, by all means, but I think they should be delisted from these ratings because it's not fair to the shows. The CW is a niche broadcaster, not a wide-spread network like the others, that much is clear from the numbers. It should be listed alongside HBO and AMC.

How can anyone watch 'Dancing With The Stars'? It's crap. The dancing is mediocre at the best of times. The singers sound like they've never heard the hit songs they're singing. There should have been a mass exodus to SYTYCD for the quality alone. I guess too many viewers have bad taste.

HEATHER LOCKLEAR IS A SCANK AND REAL PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF HER, SHE IS A HAS BEEN LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS. REAL PEOPLE KNOW WHO THE GENUINE STARS ARE.

OMG!!i luv "V", and ABC is f***** it up!!!!

I agree with the comment about CW incapable of having high ratings. Also that they need to give the show a chance with the addition of Heather and the removal of Simpson-Wentz, maybe the cheese factor will be cut out a bit. Although last nights episode of Simpson and Egglesfield's sex scene was PSYCO-CRAZY ***** HOT! They need to add more psycho, mind twisting plot lines, and with last nights episode it looks that it made a good start. (Despite what the ratings are)

Ok, where did all the V viewers go? V last night was awesome and action packed and next week looks to be even better.

Wonder why SYTYCD is doing so poorly...

Arn't people tired of watching endless seasons of Biggest Loser yet...

90210 and Melrose Place were fantastic last night.I hope the CW sticks with both shows.
