teabag13.jpg"Teabagger" was one of the finalists for the Oxford Word of the Year for 2009 -- somewhere, Anderson Cooper snickers.

Teabagger is defined by Oxford as "a person, who protests President Obama's tax policies and stimulus package, often through local demonstrations known as 'Tea Party' protests."

Last spring on CNN's "AC 360," David Gergen, the director of the Center for Public Leadership, said that the Republican party was "searching for [their] voice." Anderson Cooper responded, "It's hard to talk when you're tea-bagging."

We heart Anderson Cooper.

"Teabagger" didn't win, however. The 2009 Oxford Word of the Year is "unfriend," as in "to remove someone as a 'friend' on a social networking site such as Facebook."

Other finalists include "hashtag," "sexting," "funemployed," and "death panel." Our personal favorite nominee was "tramp stamp."

First! The Oxford definition is not what Anderson Cooper meant (see Urban Dictionary for real meaning); so why would he be snickering? Once again the media gets it wrong!

Learn here, from Colin Firth, how great heavy-framed specs can look with neat tailoring and some classic white-shirt-with-black-tie styling.

I watched that particular AC360 and The Grammarian is correct. What made Anderson Cooper's play on words so funny is that the phrase "teabagger" has a completely different meaning.

Yeah, that phrase worked out so very well for Cooper. His ratings have been the worst of all the primetime news cable outlets since he uttered it.
