Super Bowl hears The Who
The Super Bowl will continue its recent run of classic-rock halftime shows in February when The Who -- its two surviving original members, anyway -- take the stage in Miami. That's according to a report on SI.com; the NFL hasn't confirmed its entertainment plans for Super Bowl XLIV yet.
The Who will be the sixth straight veteran rock act to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show since Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson launched a gazillion FCC complaints and led the most-watched TV event of the year away from anything resembling edgy fare. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed last year; they were preceded by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney.
The Super Bowl will air Feb. 7 on CBS, the network that uses Who songs for its three "CSI" series. Anyone want to take bets on a "Who Are You"/"Won't Get Fooled Again"/"Baba O'Riley" medley during the halftime show?

Even with them still trying to play things safe, you would think they would come up with some one at least still relevant, performing, and putting out albums. Use Bon Jovi or Tim McGraw or Taylor Swift.
All relevant, all relatively safe, all would be much more appealing to the mass audience than The Who.
Then again ... it is the Super Bowl, so i guess it doesn't really matter does it
i love these old groups but come on. i agree with jbird. bon jovi, tim mcgraw. not taylor swift.
i was just trying to come up with a relevant safe act there, not so much that i think Taylor Swift is great. She is just all over the place so i threw her in.
I love The Who but yea they need some *newer* bands.
Don't you get it? New Bands stink.. Check out the big money drawers and you will always notice the older bands at the top.. As for Taylor Swift, she is good but no one wants to hear that 16 song while watching football :)
Simple solution: Bruce Springsteen every year!
That is stretching it. Bruce Springstein and Aerosmith are good acts but the Who is finished.
WHAT STUPID AND UNINFORMED COMMENTS. MUST BE COMING FROM THE BRITTANY FAN CLUB.
THE FACT IS THAT THE WHO KICKS EVERYONES *** ON STAGE.THEY HAVE THE ANTHEMS, STAGE PRESENCE AND ROCK LORE. THE GREATEST LIVE BAND EVER.PERIOD.
