'So You Think You Can Dance': Noelle Marsh soldiers on, will stay in the competition
The "So You Think You Can Dance" family has had a somewhat rocky start for this first fall season -- losing promising finalist Billy Bell before the first performance show because of an illness, as well as prominent choreographer Mia Michaels just before the Top 20 was announced (we're still unclear as to why Michaels suddenly went AWOL) -- so the thought of another unexpected casualty this week has been a bit much.Last Tuesday, contestant Noelle Marsh was sidelined due to a knee injury during rehearsals, forcing her to sit in the audience and watch as her partner Russell Ferguson performed with choreographer Melanie Lapatin in her place.
At the time of the taping, it was still unclear as to whether Marsh would be able to continue in the competition. Judge Nigel Lythgoe explained that an upcoming MRI would determine the severity of her condition and what her "So You Think You Can Dance" fate would be.
Surprisingly, the doctor's ruling was in Noelle's favor -- er, the favor of her television career anyway -- as Marsh appeared healthy as a horse in tonight's "SYTYCD" show opening.
Will she, however, be strong enough to compete at the level this demanding series requires?
Keep watching.
We attended the taping of tonight's episode, at the end of which two contestants are cut.
And, as any "So You Think You Can Dance" fan knows, there are no promises and the judges have been known to show no mercy at times...

I do not understand why Bianca was vote off by the judges. She was a much better dancer than Noelle. I am also upset that within two weeks, two African-American dancers were voted off.
Also as a tapper, I feel that there is little respect for the style and the judges need to have a "hoofer" on the panel so that there could be someone who understands the genre.
I don't think I will watch anymore.
Mia was the reason I watched the show. She is brillant! I was so excited to see her coreograph Billy Bell(a.k.a billy elliot}Such a disapointment!
I haven't been following the show much, but speaking as a professional tapper and teacher, the two tap solos tonight were really terrible, amateurish, completely out-of-sync with the music (to use a singing analogy, one would say they were entirely out-of-tune from start to finish). I guess they thought tap would make them stand out, but they would have had a better chance doing a dance form at which they are more talented. Based on tonight's solos alone, they deserved to go. Noelle's solo, by contrast, was brilliant.
This show will NOT BE THE SAME without mamamia. I am SO SAD!!!
Noelle had the best solo by far! Going off just the solos, she deserved to stay. But Bianca had a great dance last week, and an underrated one this week. Looking at the full dance history, Bianca should have stayed, so I'm a bit surprised she got the boot. Philip's dismissal was totally deserved though. noelle was by fay the best dancer and just had an injury??!! who would have known!
Stacy, your racist comments were not necessary. I don't think dancers are voted off based on the color of their skin. If two white dancers were voted off last night, would that give white people the right to use the word racism?
I agree Glenn. That was a very silly, inappropriate comment to make. Colour is not being judged here . . . it's the quality of the dancing! Two "must" be voted off each night. The judges did make the correct choice. Let's face it, sending any of them home is not a fun thing to have to do.
hey noelle you and molly are my favs!!!!
Well of course you wouldn't think that race has anything to do with the voting. Have you ever been effected by race? i am a white man working in southside of chicago. I have first hand seen how our nation's racism has affected even the young miorities. I believe that Stacy might be on to something. 3 of the last four dancers were African American and one philipino. And yes I do believe the same could be said for the "voting" for american idol.
