'Saturday Night Live': Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes us laugh, Sarah Palin is President in '2012'

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Saturday Night Live" "Make 'Em Laugh" was one of the best openings we've seen in awhile, followed by an excellent faux-movie trailer for "2012." Video below of both.If you aren't familiar with the song "Make 'Em Laugh," you should go out and rent "Singin' in the Rain" as soon as possible. The number is comedian Donald O'Connor's most famous performance.
Tonight Joseph Gordon-Levitt opened "Saturday Night Live" with a full performance of "Make 'Em Laugh," complete with backflips off the scenery just like O'Connor did in "Singin' in the Rain." It was delightful. Video below. It may not be laugh-out-loud funny but we can certainly appreciate the homage and the difficulty level.
Following Levitt's opening, "SNL" brought us a trailer for disaster movie "2012." Except the "disaster" part of the movie was Sarah Palin being elected president in 2012.
The worst part? Glenn Beck was her VP.
It's unfortunate the show followed up those gems with a painfully unfunny spoof on the old game show "Password." But we guess you can only hope for a couple bright spots on "SNL" nowadays.

The Republicans drove the country into a ditch, now they're complaining about the cost of the tow truck.
As for Obama: I'm not an Obama fan. He thinks he can work with the Republicans while they're just playing him. The health care plan will do nothing but subsidize health insurance companies. They'll come out fine. It will be a disaster for the public, and the Republicans will point at it when it fails and claim that the failure proves the government shouldn't be involved in health care.
The truth is that the only other country in the world in which basic health care is provided through for-profit insurance companies is China.
They had a basic, universal system. They killed it and went to for-profit health insurance. Every since, their health care outcome measures have declined.
As for the Wall Street bailout, guess who the biggest foreign provider of health insurance in China is??

Everyone, including Obama, knows that a universal single-payer health care system is the only solution, but Obama is so weak and has so little leadership skills, that he wouldn't propose it and won't use the bully pulpit to educate the public and build support for the only real solution.
I don't think Alan is actually a Palin follower. Sounds like maybe he's had a hard day (frustration).
Anyway, Alan i can think just fine (and i don't really care about politics/media), and even i can see Palin would be an unmitigated disaster. She's as opportunistic as they come and a fool to boot (which makes for the funny combination).

Geoff, I agree, I also wish that Obama wasn't playing as "nice" as he has been with the Repub's. But, hopefully, his patience is running out.

It is sad to see that rather than discuss ideas, the conversation degrades to insults. Is there really any chance to convince someone with a different opinion by insulting them?
