dakotafanning_ellen_290.jpgThe "Twilight Saga: New Moon" media bombing campaign began in earnest Monday. Co-star Dakota Fanning made an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show before the movie's premiere -- and she wasn't the only vampire in the building.

Most of Fanning's segment was devoted to how she's managed to make a relatively normal life for herself in between her film work -- she's a junior in high school, she's on the cheerleading squad and was in the junior class homecoming court. She also, of course, talked about "New Moon," in which she plays Jane, a member of the Volturi.

Fanning talked about how fun it was to play a character who's evil, how she enjoyed working with Robert Pattinson, how she's read all the "Twilight" books -- the usual talk-show patter for an actor promoting a movie. But DeGeneres wouldn't let her guest off quite that easily.

While asking Fanning whether she believes in vampires, DeGeneres had a staff member dressed up as a vamp (in the old-school, Dracula mode) sneak up behind her. "Do you get scared at all?" Answer: Yes she does -- at least when someone sneaks up behind her.

Here's the full segment. The vampire fun starts just before the 5-minute mark.
