Martin Scorsese gets Golden Globes' DeMille Award

martinscorsese_290.jpgMartin Scorsese will receive the Golden Globes' highest honor at the awards in January.

The "Raging Bull" and "Departed" director will be the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 67th annual Golden Globes, which are set for Jan. 17. Scorsese has won two Globes in his career -- for directing "The Departed" and "Gangs of New York" -- and has been nominated six other times.

The award is given to someone who has made an "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field." Recent winners include Steven Spielberg -- Scorsese presented his fellow filmmaker with the award last year -- Warren Beatty and Anthony Hopkins. Nominations for the Globes will be announced Dec. 15.

Scorsese's next movie, the thriller "Shutter Island," is due for release in February.
