James Franco: 'General Hospital' first pic

To be honest, part of us has been thinking that James Franco joining the cast of ABC's "General Hospital" for a run was an elaborate hoax. As grand of an idea it is -- and if we were going to make a list of random film actors who think it would be kind of fun to do a soap, Franco would be on it -- it really does seem too good to be true.

But now we have photographic evidence.

SoapNet has posted a first look picture of Franco. Granted, he's standing in a doorway so there's not much context, although we are happy to read into his all black ensemble and unbuttoned collar that he will indeed be playing a character with mob ties who is about to make things very unpleasant for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).

Franco first appearance is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 20.
