kelseygrammer_hank_290.jpgABC has pulled the plug on "Hank," the weakest link in its block of new Wednesday-night comedies.

The network on Wednesday (Nov. 11) canceled the show, which stars Kelsey Grammer as a former titan of industry who loses his job and is forced to spend more time with his family. The show will finish shooting its current episode -- the 10th of its 13-episode order -- but for now ABC has no plans to show the unaired episodes, the showbiz trade papers report.

"Hank" is the second new ABC series to get bad news this week. On Monday the network confirmed that it wasn't planning to continue "Eastwick" beyond its 13-episode order.

Bad omens have been gathering for "Hank" for a while now. The show was left out when ABC gave full-season orders to its other three Wednesday comedies -- "The Middle," "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town" -- and then pre-empted for a repeat of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" in late October.

The series is averaging 6.67 million viewers per episode and a lightweight 1.7 rating among adults 18-49, both of which are the smallest numbers for the Wednesday comedy block.

ABC's entire regular lineup is pre-empted tonight for the CMA Awards; when regular programming resumes, a mix of reruns and holiday specials will fill the 8 o'clock spot through the end of 2009.

YAY! :D

awesome!

Too bad, the show sucked but i like Kelsey Grammer, wish he could find himself a good show.

Bet you suck ERIC!

Again thanks for being on top of it zap2it!!!

Dollhouse” is closing its doors at Fox.

The network has canceled Joss Whedon’s cult fave, which in May beat the odds with a second-season pickup despite low ratings.

The sci-fi series, which is filming episode 11, is expected to finish its 13-episode order.

POSTED HERE 1ST!!!

After some dismal performance this fall, despite the ratings bumps “Dollhouse” got from DVR viewing, Fox benched the show for the November sweep after four episodes.

Too bad for Frais...uh...Kelsey Grammer.

One reason, I guess he's still just too typecast.

Another, this was just like his last failed attempt (with Patricia Heaton) where he was a "big fish, forced to swim in a small pond again".

Sad, but Hank was just not as 'strong' as the rest of the comedies on Weds.

I say strong because "good" depends on the individual.

He's a talented guy and I hope he finds the proper vehicle to reinvent himself.

It just couldn't anchor a primetime weeknight and the show was just pretty bad overall.

Kelsey Grammer needs to play off of someone. Feel bad for Kelsey two failed shows. He just type cast as Fraser. Just don't see him playing someone else, guess that's why actors hate that.

he is rich craig, feel bad for yourself!

Can't say I'm surprised. I didn't think the show was that great. I don't mind Kelsey, but it's hard to escape the shadow when you've played a legendary character for 20 years.
