TwitterGuess David Letterman's mom's Thanksgiving pies
David Letterman's mom may surprise us all this Thanksgiving. Each year, Dorothy Mengering appears on the "Late Show" via satellite from her Indiana home on Thanksgiving for the "Guess Mom's Pies" segment in which Dave would try to predict what pies she made for the holiday before she'd reveal them.
We thought we'd get in on the action this year with our own pie guesses. Here's a look at some of the pies of years past:
2008 - peanut butter, pecan
2007 - no pies reported due to writers strike
2006 - pumpkin, apple
2002 - pumpkin, raspberry
2001 - pumpkin, lemon chiffon
1999 - pumpkin, red raspberry chiffon
1993 - orange pumpkin pie w/ whipped cream and hickory nuts
1991 - pumpkin, pecan
Judging from those, we predict at least one has to be a pumpkin this year. Not only does Dave's mom appear to have a penchant for pumpkin, but she skipped over it last year and is probably wanting to return to the loving arms of the squash.
As for the second ... hmm. Mama Letterman seems to a little rogue with the second pie. We're feeling fruity and a little creative.
Lemon chess pie? Gooseberry? Snozzberry? Bavarian apple? Strawberry rhubarb?

Dave's mom surprised you all by not doing a pie show with him for Thanksgiving because Dave bonks his female employees. He should make all his jokes about himself, the real joke of all.
It was a rerun from November 9 instead of having a yearly Thanksgiving show last night with Dave's mom. I hope Dave's mom's health isn't the factor of why we saw a rerun. She's 88 years young (I don't want to say "years old"), but the older you get your health is more vital. Maybe they will have Dave guess his mom's pies for Christmas week in December instead.
