FOX serves up yet another Gordon Ramsay cooking show
Chef Gordon Ramsay is turning FOX into the other food network.FOX has ordered up a third series featuring the hotheaded Scottish chef. This one is an adaptation of the culinary competition "MasterChef," in which amateur cooks compete for the title of the best non-professional chef in the country. Think of it as "Top Chef" for home cooks or a food-based "American Idol."
"MasterChef" has aired on the BBC for many years, and an Australian version was a hit earlier this year. "A huge reality format that works great in other countries plus Gordon Ramsay guarantees success," FOX's alternative-series chief Mike Darnell tells The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed. "Gordon is like our 'CSI.'"
"MasterChef" would join Ramsay's other shows, "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares," on the FOX schedule sometime next year, possibly in the summer. The network is also planning a live cook-along special starring Ramsay for December.
The FOX version of the show will most likely follow the format of the Australian series: Would-be contestants audition by preparing a dish for a panel of judges; the best move on to the main competition, which features a series of individual and team challenges. The last cook standing wins.

Still love Hell's Kitchen, didn't really care for Kitchen Nightmares, but heck, it's Ramsay, so I'll give it a go.
But then, it's his fiery personality that made Hell's Kitchen click, didn't really express it on the one episode of Kitchen Nightmares that I ever saw, so I'm not going to say "guaranteed hit."
@KK: funny, I feel the exact opposite way. I'm a big fan of Kitchen Nightmares (especially the British version which is a lot less artificial than the FOX version), but Hell's Kitchen is the one Ramsay show I don't watch (not a big fan of those competition "reality" shows).
The ubris of Mike Darnell who dares to say "guaranteed success" is quite remarkable, especially given that FOX hasn't found a real hit since House premiered years ago.
Then again, Mr. Darnell will probably use the Jeff Zucker scale, by which I mean he'll re-define "success" as whatever ratings they ultimately get (which is why some people still dare to call the complete bomb that is Dollhouse a "hit").
God NO. I like Gordon Ramsey. Until the last season when I hated all the Chefs, I like Hell's Kitchen. Only thing I don't like about his American shows versus his UK is the stupid voice-overs that make me what to throw my tv out a window. But Masterchef won't work and won't be that good in the US compared to other countries.
If we didn't have two tv feeds (East and West), then I would think Ramsay's Cooking Live would be better. Or we could have the much better The F Word. The F Word you have a celebrity chat show, cooking, and a contest all-in-one.
I'd watch this show. It would be interesting to see what non-professionals come up with week in and week out. And he wouldn't need to scream as much. I also like Kitchen Nightmares because of the restaurant aspect, though I missed most of the last season. I gave up on Hell's Kitchen because it is not really about actual cooking as much as learning to excel under the pressure of him yelling at you all the time. Just not interested in that format anymore.
enough of this crap already!!
Is Gordon Ramsey from England? Well, i wish he would F*CKING GO BACK AND #*$&ING STAY THERE!!!!!!!! *@#!$ !!
Actually I think he is from Scotland.
Ill watch it. I like kitchen nightmares and hells kitchen. Plus i watch some of the BBC stuff too.
I watch HELL'S KITCHEN but don't know if I'll watch the others.
