flashforward_290.jpg"FlashForward" is slowing down.

The time-bending ABC drama will pause production through the Thanksgiving holiday, according to Variety. While that might seem ominous for a show whose recent ratings numbers have been less that stellar, an ABC rep told the trades the stoppage had been pre-planned since before the show's launch.

"They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so," the rep told Variety.

Wait, so the writers knew they'd need a break to punch up their work? That doesn't reassure us at all.

Production on the show is set to resume Nov. 30.

We're waiting to hear back from ABC on what the pause means for "FlashForward." More details as we get 'em.

I am watching it, but at times it does feel like it has already lost its way.

i am watching too and i would like to see how this all plays out

This is nothing but a scheduled pasue, nothing to concern with. ABC knows what th eyre doing, belive me, and believe the ratings.

Taking a break over Thanksgiving doesn't seem like a big deal to me, at least.

@Andy: Congratulations for a bit of insightful observation: indeed, it isn't reassuring to be told that the writers were planning to need a break to keep up the quality.

Perhaps something else is at hand (like ABC is really unhappy given that it was their anointed show and it can't even get 10 million people to watch it for free).

Yeah, taking three days off is no biggie, so why announce it at all? To gauge viewer reaction, I'm sure.

Q. Do the writers for other TV shows work the Friday after Thanksgiving?

I was a big fan of Flash when it began, but in my opinion, it is not living up to its promise/potential. Bad writing and lack of compelling characters sums it up for me.

If the "break" leads to a hard analysis at ABC about what this show is missing, and it comes back stronger, I'll be glad. But I'd say the chances are about 50-50.

abc loves to put show on 'pause'.

just like LOST.

Oh no, oh no, the show's in trouble, it's going off the air, oh no, oh, oh wait....every show goes off the air or into reruns during the Thanksgiving break.

I wouldn't worry that they are actually taking the holiday off. They deserve it for the hard work they put into a show like this. More production companies should give the holidays off.

I didn't take that to mean that at all. I took it to mean that they knew writing a show of this type would be difficult and that you have to stay focused (the writers from "Lost" could very easily have related that to them especially when you consider two former stars from "Lost" on on "FlashForward" although if you think about really any show can fall into this category if it lets itself lose focus) and they simply planned ahead.

Me thinks that Zap2It is making more of this very simple statement than need be.
