'Eastwick' magic is gone; 'The Forgotten' extended
"Eastwick" failed to cast a spell on viewers this fall, and because of that it's about to disappear. The news is better, though, for the network's other new drama, "The Forgotten." The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced crime drama has earned five more episodes, bringing its total to 18.
"Eastwick," ABC's least-watched series this fall, won't run any longer than its initial 13-episode order, the network confirmed Monday evening (Nov. 9). An ABC rep says the show, which stars Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price and Jaime Ray Newman, will finish filming its order and that the network will air all 13 episodes at some point.
For now, though, there's only one more episode scheduled, on Nov. 25. The show is pre-empted for the next two weeks -- the CMA Awards air this Wednesday, and an interview with Janet Jackson is set for Nov. 18.
"Eastwick" is averaging about 6.5 million viewers a week this season. "The Forgotten" has fared somewhat better, drawing 8.6 million viewers; both shows are averaging a 2.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. (All those numbers include seven-day DVR use through the first four weeks of the season).
"The Forgotten" stars Christian Slater as an ex-cop who leads a group of amateur detectives in solving cases where the victim's identity is unknown. It's part of a mini-trend this season in which new series have gotten less than full-season pickups; The CW's "Melrose Place" and CBS' "Accidentally on Purpose" also got extended to 18 episodes, a little short of the standard 22.

This news sort of surprises me -- the forgotten is just terrible. I tried to watch it, but it was formulaic, predictable and just plain dull.
EASTWICK, on the other hand, has surprised me. I didn't expect to think much of it, but I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Mainly because of the cast rather than the storylines, I have to admit, but it's fun to watch. I was sad that they killed off Kyle, um, I mean Matt Dallas' character, but the three ladies plus Paul Gross make a great ensemble.
I agree with David -- the Eastwick cast sure was interesting -- and that town has a festival every week -- like Milwaukee in the Summer!
The forgotten is forgetable each week -- nothing special about the lost or the finders. Dull.
ABC made TWO mistakes there.
As for "Accidentally" I thought it was on the air accidentally -- can't believe people watch that drivel. UGH.
I liked it, but I thought the weak link of the show was definitely Lindsay Price, she just cannot pull off this role at all, and Rebecca Romijn does a decent job although her acting falls short in certain scenes as well, I always notice when she should've had a dramatic pause here, or said this phrase with a certain cadence, I can't help but notice those things. But overall, it had me intrigued, but if it goes, I won't miss it that much since it can't possibly compare to the movie no matter how good it is. If Melrose Place goes though, I'll be sad. Katie Cassidy and Stephanie Jacobsen rock.
another UGH for "Accidentally." make that a double UGH! and yuck!
Though I absolutely love The Forgotten and I'm happy it's picked up...at least until ABC changes it's mind and yanks it like everything else...it sucks that they're cancelling Eastwick!!
I'm getting so sick and tired of investing time in really great shows only to have them pulled off the air when they're just getting really good. Just fill the tv with cheaply made, crappy reality shows already so I can totally stop paying for tv altogether instead of paying rising costs for the 8 decent shows left on the air.
Oops, I guess it is going. That kinda sucks.
Regarding 'Accidentally on Purpose'....both that dumb title and Jenna Elfman are vomit inducing.
Make that a 3rd UGH!
I havent watched Eastwick just doesnt like one of the shows i would watch. Accidently i thought was good at first but its like every single episode is the same thing over and over again. So i have quit watchin that.
Eastwick has totally grown on me. At least it was beating Leno, and even though the Forgotten doesn't sound like something I'd ever watch, ABC is still investing in new drama.
I gave Eastwick a couple of weeks, but when the two women started singing "Like a Virgin" and dancing around while they were breaking into someone's office, I realized this show really wasn't for me.
