Twitter'Dollhouse' shuts its doors

And the ax keeps falling: Though the news isn't surprising, FOX has made it official that "Dollhouse" won't go beyond its 13-episode order this season.
The Joss Whedon-created series is in the midst of shooting its 11th episode of the season and will complete all 13 and give Whedon a chance to end the show "in a significant way." A network insider confirms that the 13th episode will serve as the series finale.
FOX pulled "Dollhouse" from its November sweeps schedule after its initial four episodes drew an average of only 3.08 million viewers (that number includes DVR viewing; its same-day audience was only 2.2 million people).
The network plans to air back-to-back episodes for three weeks starting Dec. 4. The show will take Christmas and New Year's Day off and return for its final three episodes starting Jan. 8. The series finale is slated for Friday, Jan. 22.

I HATE FOX!!! I sure hope they let Joss finish the ending he was already writing..... :(
I love Eliza in this show and I love her. I watch all of her shows. I thought this one would last a little longer but FOX is just brutal sometimes.

Not surprising I have a feeling that soon all network tv will show reruns on Friday nights, to save money.
How can you blame FOX? Low ratings because Dollhouse STINKS. I watched every episode hoping something would change. The stories were just downright boring. Yeah plenty of eye candy but no substance. Glad to see it go, maybe something else can fill the airwaves that is worth watching.
yeah, that kind of floored me that they benched Dollhouse for reruns for sweeps - are they really doing better in the ratings against first-run eps on other networks???
i'm checking out now so i don't invest any more emotions.
Fox Sucks! They also cancelled Tru calling that Eliza was in and what about Summer Glau? Is Terminator also canceled? I still have not forgiven the "powers that be" for cancelling Joss' best show ever...Firefly.
Yes, Fox ran reruns last Friday and in the weekly ratings they indicated 4.0 million viewers. Even with the DVR +7 numbers, Dollhouse was only close to 3.0 million. As much as I have respect for Josh W. and his work, this just wasn't going to fly. When is the last time FOX has placed a scripted series on Fridays that survived more than a season on that night?
I worked for Universal Television back when Fox first started and the prevailing opinion was that it wouldn't last. It just lasted a little longer than we thought. They obviously learned nothing from...what was that channel before the CW?
Dollhouse (which requires an IQ over 110 to enjoy and that eliminates the monkeys executives in programming) was one of the few shows I watched on Fox (Lie to Me, Fringe and 24 being the others) and network is rapidly trying my patience. Perhaps Dollhouse would have done better on a different night or network such as SyFy and if they don't move Fringe out of the Thursday night battlefield it won't be long for this world either.
Fox will be joining NBC in the waste bin, thank goodness for USA and TNT otherwise there wouldn't be anything to watch except alphabet shows.
